ESFJ Type Description
ESFJs are positive, emotional and generally well meaning people. With Fe dominating their personality, they come off as caring and enthusiastic to most people. Indeed, there are few people ESFJs cannot connect with, especially in an organized setting like a small house party or after work get together.
Since Si (introverted sensing) is ESFJs support function they may gravitate more towards familiar people and situations. On the other hand, if an ESFJs ethics are different it may drive them to do spontaneous or daring things just for the sake of it not unlike an ESFP if the situation calls for it. The key is ESFJs make most of their decisions in the context of their community, family, or whatever and so if they come from a spontaneous family threy may indeed be improv actors.
Also, remember Ne is an important part of the ESFJ as they use it to create art or generate creative ideas often applying these to organized events. For example, designing the perfect peacock mask for holloween. This gives the normally somewhat traditional and family oriented (or not…remember they get their values from their surroundings) an outlet for creative expression they can share (Fe) with others or just enjoy as a fun toy (Si).
And now, the darker side of the ESFJ…without a stable logical companion (ISTP?) they will be unable to form even basic grammer as their Ti is lowest on their function order. Also, some independent types (INTJs, INTPs) will take issue with their sometimes overbearing need to have everything organized, from a night out to a family get together. Although ESFJs see their insistence on small talk and conformity (to their group values) just preserving harmony, sometimes it seems as if they simply can’t handle change and are overly rigid. Not only that, they can seem uncaring towards others if they start acting differently than the group.
In summary, ESFJs genuine well meaning desire to connect with others especially those who share their groups values (Fe) make them popular and charming event organizers and tribal leaders. Although, they should not spend to much time with others who share their viewpoints because it leads to them sacrificing logic (Ti) for preserving social order.
