tfw they cancel practice, but no one tells you
Where do you think is the best place to position your epee? I've been fencing for 4 years but both of my teachers tell me different things during lessons. One says hold the point towards the arm because it's closest target area, and the other says point towards the face because its more likely if your opponent gets caught up with you they'll run into the blade. What are your thoughts?
In general I would say never to point your weapon at your opponents face unless that’s where you’re going for the touch. The arm is the best place in my opinion partly because it is closest to you, but also because you can pick the wrist easily from there. Not to mention, if your opponent extends and you have you blade in the right position, they can run into your blade there. If you aren’t so good at picking the wrist, I would advise keeping the point at their armpit level or just below the collar bone. That way there is a larger target area and it’s hard for them to “dodge” the blade. Never hurts to try a couple of new things out though!
Going back to Uni tomorrow. Glad to be leaving my house and family, but scared for the new semester and missing my fencing fam already. I hope I can go to my club regularly and make that my new safe haven.
Post Practice Thoughts...
My muscles are dying.
HI
Hey guys, I know my blogs been dead for a little bit, but im gonna try to start posting more regularly. Honestly, it kind of feels like i’ve lost my passion for fencing, but the one good thing about being home is being back with my team!
Watching them fence has reignited my love for stabbing people it seems. Hopefully I can bring that energy back to my college club c:
Thanks for sticking with me!
I just realized I never mentioned how my tournament went!
I got my ass beat lmao, but I actually had fun so it wasn’t so bad
