english tutoring

kinda long so just look beneath the cut

so i majored in ESL teaching when i was in uni, and i’m currently searching for a job but also unemployed (just returned home after teaching in Korea for 1 year) and completely bored. so i wanna tutor in english. 

tutoring would take place over Skype call, kinda standard. details about cost and all can be discussed if you’re interested. 

i have teaching materials but am flexible with that as well. so if you know anyone who wants to study english, please let me know!

This semester I am going to be working as the main teacher on a course (which is forbidden according to my contract but I really want the experience!!!) I am just here swamped with planning course outlines and designing a whole 16 week course and I’m freaking out because I feel like Mike from Suits except I’m a fake teacher and there’s no Harvey Specter/Donna/Jessica to bail me out and I don’t really have a photographic memory but I know I can figure this shit out!!! Gonna be the best fake teacher ever!

2. running on empty

didn’t get any sleep last night. tossed and turned for hours, and finally gave it up as a lost cause. cried more than a few times, too. between barely eating anything, and barely getting any sleep, my hope is that i’ll eventually walk into oncoming traffic by accident and just die. would be nice if it was instant, but i don’t think i have that luck.

struggling - really struggling - with phil. he’s just so obnoxious, and i know he’s a spoiled six year old, and there’s lots of them in the world, and he’s no worse than any other, but i just hate working with him. he gets his way by scrunching up his face and crying. and i can’t ignore him, like people should, because everyone drops what they’re doing and starts coddling him. i don’t mind working with fred, but five to six hours is just so fucking exhausting, when all i do is follow them around and chatter at them in english.

r and l asked me how long i wanted to stay. the short answer was never, but i said i could stay as long as they needed me. r mentioned that an english school wanted to hire me, which i would like - it would keep my days busy. if i’m lucky, i’ll get some sleep tonight, and go exploring tomorrow. i keep sleeping through my days, and it’s bad.

i miss home. i miss my routine. i miss knowing what the fuck i was doing.

i wish i would just get better.

I’ve officially lost my mind

according to other people.

Working now on getting a TEFL certification. Signed up to tutor ESL. Planning on taking Japanese language lessons in the spring.

5 year plan is to JET Program and teach english in Japan for a time.

I need 6 hours of ESL teaching experience to complete my training. If you need help with English as your second language or know of someone who may need help, I am offering this completely FREE. I am happy to work through Skype, Google Hangouts, Facebook or any other messaging app. I have a bachelor's degree with a minor in English, a year's worth of experience working with non English speakers, and have passed the academic portion for TEFL certification through the International TEFL Association (this is for the practical).
