the funny thing about being alive after seventy years is all of a sudden steve came into a lot of money that he didn’t know how to do with. before he could wrap his head around how much inflation had actually gone up while he was sleeping, he’s being told he has more money then he’ll ever know what to do with. frustrating now that he or his mother didn’t need medicine anymore. in a moment of desperation he’d even tried stealing only to go back the next day and work off what he owed.
a number of people sent him darren’s way. as two very stubborn personalities they initially got off on the wrong foot. then stepped on each other’s toes. there was also some glaring and raised voices. but, in the end, steve learned that darren was someone he could certainly trust. it didn’t take long for steve to find out that media outlets were trying to hunt any tidbits they could. not only did ellis refuse to sell what he knew but he told everyone to stick it where the sun didn’t shine. for some reason that surprised steve.
since then darren has been a valuable resource in understanding how the economic field has evolved since the War. together ( mostly ), they decide how to invest steve’s money, where to donate it, and what to do with it overall. darren even set up a small personal account for steve to use since looking at the overall sum tends to make him a little anxious.
