Alan has been so stressed out about his (in)ability to take care of and protect his family that I’m sure his good health along with the thought that he’ll be getting Dean and Kenta back soon is a monumental relief for him. A part of me is happy for him because I’ve been wanting him to have some respite from all the pressure he had as team leader. But he must be in the deepest, darkest pit of denial this world has ever seen if he thinks proposing to Jeff while being under Tony’s thumb and plotting to do something to Charlie under his command is anything less than the worst idea.

Because even if Jeff forgives Alan, what if this taints discussions they have about their future or their marriage later on? What if every time they’re asked about how they got engaged (or re-engaged if Jeff breaks this one off) or they talk about the story of their wedding their minds go back to this? What if their future wedding rings become near-constant reminders of this moment and everything surrounding it?
