There were many new additions coming into the community recently. The man had lost count of them along with many of the other guards that stood at his side. But Antonio always made the effort to welcome newcomers and make them feel at home and like part of the family. But today he never knew that he would meet a newcomer that would change his life.
It had been so long since he’d last seen her and the moment he caught sight of her dirty curls, he knew it was her. “Dios mio…” The whisper was hoarse through his lips as he stumbled towards her wondering for a moment if he was in heaven and this was an angel or if it was all just a sick and twisted dream. He said nothing as he approached her, hand extended to cup her cheek. Then the other. He forced her to face him looking deep into her eyes, his own welling with the tears of a thousand crazy emotions. No words came to his trembling lips.
