Introducing Santorini
Santorini is an island complex in the southern Aegean Sea in Greece, the remains of one of the most destructive volcanic eruptions recorded in history 3600 years ago. The eruption left a vast caldera which is today one of the most iconic features of the island, its' edges lined with traditional Cycladic houses.
Santorini is one of the world’s top tourist destinations. Intense natural beauty, spectacular sunsets, multicolored sandy beaches, traditional architecture, authentic cuisine, important ancient sites like Akrotiri, and beautiful villages like Oia, are just few of its’ many attractions.
The visitor will also find excellent accommodations here, such as Esperas Santorini hotel, in Oia, one of Fodor’s Travel 100 top hotels in the world.
You can get to Santorini directly by air, via daily ferry service from the port of Piraeus, and from neighboring islands.
