Janne “Face of an Angel” Puhakka
Heard about him when he came out a little while ago. I finally looked the guy up but hockey interviews of his are hard to come by, mostly because he’s retired already. I found one from like 2015 when he played for the Espoo Blues, I believe? He speaks a bit of English in it (very good English, I might add) and mentions that playing in the NHL is his dream. It’s too bad he retired so young.
The Espoo Sports Gala 2020 nominees have been announced! The Espoo Blues are nominated for 2019 Team of the Year and Minttu Tuominen is nominated for 2019 Competitor of the Year!
The Espoo Blues won the 2019 Finnish Championship in April and were renamed Kiekko-Espoo in the summer. Minttu Tuominen has been team captain since 2017.
You can vote for Minttu and the Espoo Blues here!
Saila Saari Happy birthday to my beloved Venla Hovi

This could be the last time
“This could be the last time Maybe the last time ...”
The Rolling Stones was singing in the sixties. This could be the case for Espoo Blues, the ice hockey team playing in the Finnish National Hockey League. On Monday, this week Blues played the last home game of the season. Moreover, it may be the last game for Espoo Blues ever. During the season Blues got severe financial problems, which is a threat for the future of the club. During the season most of the key players escaped and Blues had to play with juniors.
So was the case on Monday. Blues played with juniors against the visiting team, which was much stronger on the paper and had a much better position in the league. Blues won. The spectators gave standing ovation during the match and long time after the match. The Fan Club was singing support and had emotional tifos (for instance “till death do us part – kunnes kuolema meidät erottaa”). The small children of the Fan Club members handed out flowers to the team and coaches. The team made two encores, i.e. returning twice into the box.
Espoo Blues and Blues Fan Club: it was very emotional and sentimental evening, which will stay in mind forever.
if you want you can click the link and help my hockey team by writing down your name. i don't know the english word for the situation we are in right now but basically we don't have money to pay taxes or anything and if we can't get some fees paid that will basically be the end of the organisation and we don't want that. so all you need to do is write down your first name (etunimi) last name (sukunimi) and email if you want! thank you if you did!! :)
