Extra Typology Vol #1 - Solar Funfacts

Stats: positive and active - 

(Indeed, defined as the single most positive type with a pronounced lack of negative perceptions, with every part of their thinking, feeling and doing showing an abundance in its positive parts and underdevelopement in its negative parts. )

Rough Analoga: xxFP, sx 7, sp 2, Mercurial, Artistic

Particularities:

Basics: Optimistic, innocent, delicate, big dreamer, ethereal, hardworking idealist,  “too good for this sinful earth”

Perhaps the type least “at home” in our current world, and the rarest (except in some expanded versions of the system) - often feel like they do not fit in without really knowing why, despite all their attempts to the contrary. 

Often described as “full of light”, but despite their genuine enthusiasm, might harbor an inner sense of melancholy or loneliness

Live in a magical world of phantastical possibilites long after all others have become accustomed to the harshness of reality - unaware of limitations, be it their own, those of other people, or of the world at large; Underestimates the negative potential of situations & might fail to detect when others are being insincere or selfish

Focus on abstract, utopian theories; Might espouse idealistic far-fetchesd visions of social change or be drawn to metaphysics and philosophy

Almost seems to be pure energy - will work and/ or play extremly hard with no sense of when it is time to rest. Highly focussed on their aims and work tirelessly, if not obsessionally, in pursuit of those aims; Is not deterred when their implausible projects don’t work out

The sort to “forget to eat”; Might live only on chocolate bars if not supervised. Tends to neglect self-care & overtax their body, forgets about time or dressing appropiately for the weather

Does not easily learn from experience

May fail to get jokes, especially dark humor

Uninterested in mundane every day life - Drawn to unusual pursuits such as renaissance fairs or new-age groups; Might find them no less arbitrary than the “ordinary world”. 

Evidently the snowflake of the essence types, which might be why the popularized 12 gram version leaves them out, though there should be little overlap with the 9-gram’s 4s as those are distinctly focussed on negatives. Perhaps someone with both 4 and 7 fixes might be a kind of equivalent, but, I know what type of person this refers to, I can think of both real & fictional examples rn. In any case, now both optimistic and pessimistic individualist/special/artsy folks can find a home somewhere. Yay~ 

Strenghts:

Prodigous hard work often pays off and may accomplish sucess even in loftly goals others used to scoff at

Attempt things no one else would like to try

Loves & believes in sucess stories

The classic romantic (or tragic) hero; Is often found charming & endearing by others

Ambitious and given to workaholism

Common Pitfalls:

Naivity - getting swindled and exploited repeatedly and failing to learn from it

Power/vanity - might be driven to archieve their idealistic visions no matter the cost

these two potential flaws are not mutually exclusive, at worst, they might combine and you get either the charming supervillain who can’t be talked out of their tragic dream, or a fool who’ll risk everything on a harebrained sheme

All manner of idealistic and abstact pursuits, anything “non-mundane” that might require a lot of dedication

In relations:

Often the “good kid that falls in with the wrong friends” and then isn’t shrewd enough to not get caught or weasel out of the bad consequences

Conversely, is frequently beloved, adored  & found attractive - “Star Quality”

However, might lament the shallowness in everyday life and social relations, struggling to find real satisfaction

Living in close quarters can become a little annoying as you might find yourself nagging them about their bare necessities

Intertype Relations:

Has no particular attraction or repulsion to any type nor an ‘ideal match’ and thus may lament the lack of both the joy & heartche that result from passionate love or deep friendship

Often marry each other and join in each other’s bohemian lifestyle

How to get along with:

If you have a Solar in your life, you can resign yourself to some caretaking; Make sure that they eat & wear appropiate clothing

It’s not easy to talk them out of a pipedream venture because they wholeheartedly believe in it and are grimly determined to carry it out

How to parent:

Try to instill solid habits in terms of taking care of the body’s needs - you can’t expect them to settle into healthy rythms on their own. 

Don’t expect them to “learn their lesson” after a negative evnts like falling out of a tree or being swindled by shady friends - rather, use setbacks as an opportunity to introduce them to habits of caution and safety, and reinforce them

Because your kid is sensitive and delicate, you might be tempted to be lenient with them - remember that they will be on their own eventually

Stats: active and negative - 

(as such, frequently overestimate the amount of oppoition or resistance they will encounter.)

Rough Analoga: Gryffindor, counterphobic 6, xSTx, Choleric, Agressive, Vigilant

Particularities:

Basics: headstrong, fortright, athletic, direct, honest, blunt, coarse, tough, noble

Always ready for action and responds swiftly to any stimulus or provocation, often without considering which response might be the most appropiate for the desired aim. Tend to exert more force than the situation warrants, occasionally breaking things or getting hurt

Quickly flies into fight-or-flight responses

Nonetheless idealists willing to uphold their principles with unflinching loyalty or determination. 

Very goal-oriented with a kind of single minded tunnel vision that does not see anything but the immediate aim - lives in a constant state of activity, directing their considerable energies insto constantly rearranging the external world. Will work tirelessly on a project untill it is completed, and then start the next one. If they encounter any sort of opposition, they will simply redouble their effort and forge straight ahead rather than resort to strategems, change direction, modify the plan, or let alone quit. So straight-line oriented that they will expend energy to break down a wall when a door is right around the corner

Devotion to duty, principle and law make them easily stirred by patriotic or humanitarian causes, and once they’re commited to a cause, they are selfless and loyal in their defense of it 

Not really good at diplomacy tends to polarize arguments rather than defuse them. May miss the subtleties of a situation.

their manner is direct, open and forceful

may hurt people’s feelings with their tactlessness and make enemies with their contempt for anyone less devoted than themselves, but you’ll never need to worry about ulterior motives - Everything they think or believes should be quite obvious.

You might have difficulty not being hurt by their fank criticisms and appraisals, but you know that they’re not being made behind your back. If they dissaprove of anything you do, they’ll tell you so, but they’ll never make that criticism to other friends and staunchly defend you from anyone else’s criticsm

They tend to be independent workers and don’t really make good managers, as they tend to drive their workers too hard and expect everyone to follow their own hard-driven pace. Besides, they are not consitent or even-tempered enough to win their workers’ support.

Intertype Relations:

An inspiring Saturn leader with a Martial right hand man has often been a golden combination throughout history as they combine clear-headed guidance with swift and preseverant action. 

Their ideal match is the Venusian, which offers admiration and calm after the Martial type has finally worn themselves out. This relationship can be quite stormic if it is romantic and/or sexual in nature, but can be a more stable and stabilizing influence if it’s a bond between friends, colleagues, sports cronies or business partners. 

They also get along with the other active types, including the Jovial, who, like the Saturn type, is good at dealing with the organization and paperwork that the Martial is too singl-minded to deal with, but lacking in action and energy. 

However, they notoriously do not get along with mercurials. Both are among the most action-oriented types, but it’s a very different kind of action, with the mercurial’s frequent changes in direction and knack for multitasking contrasting with the Martial’s single-minded focus. Besides, the Marcurial’s natural deviousness enrages the Martial’s sense of honesty and fair play. 

Martials do somewhat better with Lunars, indeed, if both were to cut each other some slack and take some precautious, they might actually become friends. Since both are independent in their means of operation and look at the world through a negative lens they might even find commonalities if the Martial refrains from pushing too much and gives the Lunar the space they need for their slower decision making process. 

How to get along with:

If you know one of these, you already know that it is not a calm and relaxed relationship

Don’t try to keep up with them, you’ll only exhaust yourself, plus, the Martial might not even register your efforts and you’ll be rewarded with comments like “Aren’t you finished yet?”

Besides, they don’t want or expect you to keep up; They enjoy the work and get a lot of satisfaction from self-sufficiency. They’re likely doing the work out of necessity more than virtue, “Somebody has to do it” and they need an outlet for their energy

It’s generally not a good idea to try to talk them out of something they’re doing; It’ll just result in a fight. If you disagree, just state it calmly & clear out of the vicinity

Do not use manipulation or subterfuge; Martials respect honesty and openness. They may still disagree with you, but you’ll have their loyalty, respect and consideration

The positive side is that you can count on honesty in this relationship; You never have to worry that they are hiding something from you.

How to parent:

You’ll have to be especially vigilant in the early years; Some amount of cuts and bruises probably can’t be avoided - save your energy for the really important things like “Do not climb onto the roof” or “Look left & right before crossing the street”

You will never have to doubt the child’s word. If they did something wrong, it won’t take much prompting for them to tell you

However, it might be a bit hard to explain social graces to your child. The best may be to impress the virtue of silence in place of marvelling at how many wrinkles grandma has gotten. 

It is generally not sucessfull to get them to produce polite untruths. Try, instead, to find socially acceptable truth. For example “Thanks for inviting me” when leaving a party since they won’t say they had a good time when they didn’t.

Subtypes/ Aspects:

Instinctual: Can come off as loud, intense and frightening at first glance, but vast energy is typically channelled toward ideals of honor & duty. Can be wary of strangers. 

Moving: Capable of doing hard physical work all day and thriving on it. Holds to goals and will literally move mountains to archieve them, could be an ambitious worker. The author judges this subtype to be the archetypical American, make of that what you will. 

Intellectual: Can be a rigid ideologist, at worst, a zealot. Sciencey preoccupations are likely outdoors like archeology or geology. 

Emotional: This would be the archetypical religious zealot (says the book not me), but they may also be found in the arts as actors or writers, often tackling political subjects
