Yessssss! Thank you thank you thank you! Any excuse to daydream about these four...

4. What do they consider to be each other’s most annoying habits?

Trevor stinks and falls asleep pretty much anywhere in the middle of pretty much anything, Greta snores and doesn't pick up after herself (usually her clothes or dishes), Sypha makes too much noise when she eats and starts too many projects, and Alucard is perfect. JK...he's sometimes a bit of a flake and often forgets things or gets lost in his own thoughts and brooding, but that's why he's got Greta to snap him out of it.

10. How do they divide up the domestic jobs?

Alucard cooks, Trevor cleans...they bicker about household matters like paint colors and what to do about the monster spiders in the cellar, while Greta and Sypha run the town. When the baby comes, everyone takes turns for awhile during the hardest parts, but Trevor and Alucard end up taking on most of the daily childcare duties (Trevor is the 'cool dad' that all the kids of Belmont wanna jump on and rough house with, and Alucard is the one they go to when they actually need something or to get snacks), except for magic, which falls to Sypha (their kid makes her first fireball at age 5!), and combat training (is that a domestic job? it is in this town, for sure, and Greta is an excellent teacher!).

20. Do they still flirt with each other?

I imagine all of them continuing to flirt shamelessly until they're old and dead (or immortal...oh no, now I'm sad...), and it being a great source of embarrassment to all the young people of Belmont who knew them, and then a great legend that their founders remained hopelessly thirsty and dorkily in love with each other until their last breath (or until they were sealed away in a secret impenetrable vault somewhere...).

Thanks for the ask! Answering for Anders, Journey, and Nathaniel from The Place Where I Belong. You're getting all three because I am a wordyboy, sorry bout it lmao

1. Have they ever had a huge row and if so, what was it about?

Journey and Anders will argue over trivial shit for hours, but until the events of TPWIB they'd never really had a conflict truly rock the foundations of their relationship. Journey is the kind of person who sets up her life in ways that make it easy for her to run from major conflict, which uh. Becomes a huge problem itself in the story.

Nathaniel's the one who is the most outwardly expressive with his anger, and this is kind of a jarring dynamic shift for the three of them as a triad. Journey isn't the kind of person who folds in a conflict, but she does tend to play off of the other person's level of antagonism, which is why she and Anders so rarely actually fight. Her relationship with Nathaniel starts out from the very beginning with resentment on his side and him pushing her buttons, so she essentially responds accordingly, and their first actual conversation ends with her punching him in the face and flipping him onto his ass.

Anders has pushed Nate's buttons from day one just because he can, but their first real argument didn't happen until the day Nathaniel found out from a sticky-note in Malcolm's handwriting on a briefing report that Anders was unofficially leaving the Wardens and didn't plan on telling any of them he was going. :')

7. Do they have a designated date night? If so, what do they usually do?

This has changed a lot with circumstance obviously. In Kirkwall, Journey started dragging Anders to play Wicked Grace with her friends once a week at the Hanged Man. This turned into dragging him down the road early to buy him dinner beforehand when she realized he was coming straight from work without eating anything. When they got more involved with the Mage Underground stuff in later years as things get worse in Kirkwall, they jokingly refer to their activities as dates, and for a little while everyone in their friend group except Varric thought they were becoming the most unexciting couple ever because they always claimed they were "staying in to watch a movie together." They got busted when Isabela was like "there is NO way those two are so routinely boring" and went over to Journey's house to see what they were actually up to and caught them pulling up in the driveway with Journey covered in blood while swatting at Anders going BABE IT'S JUST A SCRATCH.

22. Do they like to mess with each other or deliberately wind each other up?

This is the cardboard foundation on which Anders and Nate's entire friendship was built upon from day one. Nathaniel just has such an unfortunately punnable last name, and much like in canon, things just escalated from there.

Unfortunately for Nathaniel, Journey also lives to wind up the people she loves. Fortunately for Nathaniel, he's figured out all he has to do to shut her up is grab her by the hair and kiss her.

Anders and Journey kind of just goes without saying at this point. Neither of them have taken a thing seriously a day in their lives more than absolutely necessary.

For fenders AND merribela (and/or an OC OTP if you'd like!) from the established relationship asks: 7. Do they have a designated date night? If so, what do they usually do? and 14. Do they have a morning routine? Describe it if you’d like to.

7. Fenris and Anders don't have a designated date night - they don't feel the need to schedule in time together because they automatically spend a lot of time together anyway. If they do plan something special, it's not because they've got a specific date night. Merrill and Isabela do like to make sure they go do something fun a couple times a month, like finding somewhere quiet to eat, or Isabela will come over to Merrill's house and they'll cook together - but again, it's not like they say "every second Friday of the month we're going on a date".

14. Fenris and Anders' morning routine differs a little depending on whether they've slept at the mansion or Anders' clinic - Anders can stay in bed a bit longer if he doesn't have to walk to Darktown - but it almost always includes a lot of grumbling about having to get up from the both of them, delaying getting out of bed with kisses, and Fenris insisting Anders have something to eat before he leaves. if Isabela has spent the night at Merrill's house, Merrill gets up early and potters around for a bit before she makes herself tea and Isabela some coffee and brings it in so the two of them can drink it in bed.

How about 6 & 24 for Stroud and Loghain?

Yay! Thank you! First, allow me to write an entire book as a response to the first one, which is such a great ask for these two...

6. What things have tested their relationship over the years?

When they got together, they had both been pretty well ‘tested’ by various challenging circumstances throughout their lives, and they bonded over their shared disdain for Orlais and their sense of loss (both have lost or left behind people very near and dear to them and have felt sort of used or betrayed by politics or duty to country or whatever).

The hardest thing for them moving forward has probably been Stroud not understanding why Loghain would put off trying to repair his relationship with his daughter (Stroud also has some ideas about Nate and Loghain’s relationship that he keeps to himself, hoping one of them will eventually notice...hi...me, I’m Stroud!), and Stroud’s sort of self-sacrificing attitude and sense of duty to the Wardens as a larger organization.

When they go against Clarel’s orders during Inquisition and try to figure out what’s going on with the False Calling and all that, this is much harder for Stroud (who feels especially loyal to Clarel for giving him a purpose after his family was murdered). If it weren’t for Loghain’s natural skepticism about Wardens, especially Orlesian ones, I like to head-canon that Stroud would have had a much more difficult time with his decision to ignore the summons to the Western Approach (thus saving the rest of The Eastern Wardens, including Carver and Nate, of course!).

Thank you for the asks! These are so perfect for these two pairings!

25. If they live together, who decorates their living space? Has one of them taken it over?

They do sort of live together (when Isabela isn't off doing pirate things), but it's still pretty much Merrill's apartment, decorated as much like an aravel as she can manage. Isabela doesn't mind. It feels like a perfect little nest to her, one she is all too happy to return to. She doesn't really have any strong opinions about interior decorating, other than some inappropriate comments about the color of the rugs not matching the drapes, which Merrill at first misinterprets as Isabela wishing to change them out for new ones...

18. What are the little things they do each day to show the other they care? – either consciously or subconsciously

Omg...they are both so intense and dramatic, it's like...do they even know how to do 'little things'?! They are both trying, though. Anders sends him little messages (they are slowly getting it together in my retro-modern futurish Dark Sprawl AU) and stuff when he's at work, like "Hey..." and "I would drown us in blood to keep you safe." And Fenris is trying to learn how to use cute emojis so he can respond appropriately (like 🤿). Sometimes he brings Anders dinner if he's working a later shift (sometimes he gets too stoned to cook anything and just brings him random snack food from Merrill's cupboards and then eats an entire sleeve of girl scout cookies and apologizes about being a terrible boyfriend...that's still a few chapters away in Linked, though). I love them so much.

10. How do they divide up the domestic jobs?

Jaq and Phineas have both spent a long time living alone and are used to handling all the chores for themselves so it’s less a case of dividing them up and more just both keeping an eye out for what needs doing and then dealing with it as and when – unfortunately they tend to disagree on how often clothes need washing, where things need to be put away etc. so Jaq being naturally neater tends to handle that day to day. Phineas’ idea of cleaning is to have a few hours long project deep clean every few weeks and then ignore everything in between which drives Jaq up the wall.

19. If there was one thing they could change about each other, what would it be?

Jaq gets frustrated about how bad Phineas can be at looking after himself. They know it’s not deliberate, he’s just hyper focused on his work, but given they’re uncomfortably aware the two will have a very limited number of years together, they’d really rather he didn’t cut them short by not eating properly and taking too many stimulants.

Phineas wishes Jaq would relax more. He knows they worry because they care – not just about him but about the population of Halcyon in general and in particular the colonists. They always seem to unnecessarily feel they have to fix everything and take on everyone else’s stress. He appreciates they’re a problem solver but sometimes he wishes they would take a step back and not get so wound up about everything.

24. What do they find are each other’s most endearing habits?

Jaq loves that Phineas hums, sings and talks to himself almost all the time. It’s a habit he developed from being alone for so long and they’re glad he feels comfortable still doing it when they’re around. Sometimes they’ll join in with his singing which Phineas always finds amusing.

For Phineas, it’s that Jaq is fidgety and always has to be doing something with their hands. If the two are sat together reading or watching aetherwave then Jaq is often holding Phineas’ hand or running their fingers through his hair. He also finds it very sweet the way Jaq will rub at their wedding band when they’re concentrating on something.

thanks for the asks! answered 25 previously, so here's 18 - What are the little things they do each day to show the other they care? – either consciously or subconsciously

Jaq’s love language is acts of service. When Phineas gets wrapped up in his projects Jaq will bring him food, set timers to remind him to stretch his legs and make sure he actually gets some sleep. They know he runs colder than they do so they always turn the heat up on the shower before gets in and they make sure there are extra blankets on his side of the bed if he needs them. Besides that it's things like leaving his favourite shirt of theirs behind for him to wear if they’re away and leaving notes for him on his work bench.

Phineas mostly shows he cares by ensuring they have his attention and by focusing to the little details. When Jaq’s tossball team loses he knows they will be in a bad mood so he will make tea for them in just the way they like and then listen whilst they run through all the decisions the referee clearly got wrong, he’ll do similarly if something isn’t working out or stressing them when it comes to their work. He likes to make stuff so he will gift them things from his projects – seeds for hybrid plants that they can grow at the New Hope centre, origami figures with notes in, creams and salves for when their hands get torn doing building work and climbing.
