Detroit City FC has officially outgrown Estadio Cassatech. Those words are painful for any soccer supporter to say. Too many memories are attached to these cathedrals which house our passion. Money trumps all. Our new home will allow the club to move up in leagues in time. That is the idea. American soccer doesn’t have the mechanism for supporter trust ownership. DCFC is using a wrinkle that comes just short of it.
I wonder if it will be open to our global audience. Concrete and brick terraces. The reason other sports want a new stadium is the very thing soccer wants. That’s the one thing Europeans have the hardest thing wrapping their head around. Being passive at any sporting event. American sports don’t require your complete attention. I want total immersion for 2 hours.
The geography of Hamtramck is a densely packed two square mile area inside the City of Detroit. There’s no parking at the stadium. Sounds like Europe to me. The many bars will being another level of vitality to the NGS. The Timbers Army is made of many parts. Growing pains are going to happen. The dedication to the club will keep it under control. DCTID.
