Okay but like "The Missing Piece Meets the Big O" by Shel Silverstein is so perfect in terms of ace/aro people??? Like idk about anyone else but I often feel like I'm the missing piece and I'm just waiting to find someone that I fit with, but really I just have to learn how to fully accept myself and then I'll find someone who doesn't /complete/ me (because I'm not missing anything) but someone someone who complements me instead. Or maybe I'm reaching. I was an English major - BS is my specialty

holy shit? this is actually a really cool analogy for being ace/aro, especially when you’re sort of loathing yourself for it and going through the “why can’t I be like everyone else” phase of it. I also feel like the part about the piece growing could like.. be a way of describing being lithromantic? Like, you think you want this, and you’re so glad about it, and then suddenly it IS there, and it’s not as fun or as helpful any more. It just makes you feel a little bit lost.

Maybe like the Die Hard movies, The Last of the Mohicans, Gladiator or something? Idk, sometimes my dad and I have James Bond marathons…just some ideas.

As I was thinking of movies he might like I started wondering, "What kind of movie violence is my dad okay with?" Like I don't react when someone takes a chainsaw and cuts someones feet off and then they try to drag themselves out, I wouldn't even think about the violence... I guess I have to find out. "Gladiator" might be something he might like, but they do chop people up with swords don't they... I never remember :p
