In a few hours of field time, we may locate turkey vulture, osprey, golden eagle, bald eagle, Cooper’s Hawk, sharp-shinned hawk, northern goshawk, red-tailed hawk, prairie falcon, peregrine falcon and possibly other raptors. We will concentrate on this group of diurnal hunters but will also have the opportunity to see other spring migrants and year-round resident species as well. We will discuss natural history as we watch and enjoy these magnificent predators. The Estes Park Duck Race 2013 Celebrates 25 Years

The Estes Park Duck Race launchs a variety of summer activities in this charming mountain community at the east entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. Many Estes area accommodations, restaurants, shops and activities are offering specials to encourage visitors to enjoy springtime in the Rockies

  Ducks are dropped in Fall River at Nicky’s Resort located at 1350 Fall River Road. The race can be viewed along the way from several properties including: Aspen Winds, Inn on Fall River, Deer Crest Resort, and more (to be added). “Adopt” your race duck from an Estes Park organization, receive a duck with your lodging package or purchase one online (link here)

As the ducks reach Downtown Estes the race can be seen from many area businesses such as  Riverspointe Spa.

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Estes Park as a benefit for more than 67 nonprofit community organizations in the Estes Area and crowds from all over Colorado and many other states., Ducks can be “adopted” until noon on Saturday May 4th and could win one many great prizes.

Last spring, the Race raised over $100,000 for community organizations in the Estes Valley and is the largest charity fundraiser in the area. Over 95% of the money raised actually goes to benefit the participating organizations.
