Yessss, someone else who's actually seen King Arthur. The movie was so amazing. <3 <3 <3
I WAS SO GOOD. IT WAS REALLY JUST FUN AND PURE AND MAGICAL? I’ve seen so many Arthur lore movies and they usually bore me to tears, but this one was just the right amount of riff. I loved it.
"You're just ... so, so stupid." With Kimball/Carolina pretty please? <3 <3 <3
LOVE AND DUTY
Post Season 13, canonical character death.
“Really Carolina? Again?”
Carolina opens her eyes. The med bays light are easy to recognize given how often she’s here, and she groans, closing her eyes. She catalogues her aches and pains, placing each to an injury. Side: gunshot graze. Headache: concussion. Leg: acting up as usual. When she opens her eyes again, Kimball glares at her.
She does. Carolina was there for the swearing in ceremony a month ago. Kimball won the election by a slim margin: even after Charon, the Feds are resistant to having her as a permanent leader. Carolina only stayed a day before she headed out. She’s spent so much time on her own that it’s hard to remember the world has turned on without her.
“I do.” She tries to sit up, thinks better of it, and lies back down. Grey lecture should be stern this time. If it weren’t for years of listening to her father’s, they might actually affect her. “How’s governing?”
Kimball crosses her arms, tilting her head up. The same pose that makes Carolina think “General” instead of “Chancellor.” “This is the fourth time in the last six months you’ve ended up in Doctor Grey’s med bay.”
It’s true though she hasn’t been counting. Kimball shouldn’t know about them. “Did Grey-”
“Of course not. She respects confidentiality. Colonel Sarge on the other hand-”
Carolina sighs. Of course he ratted her out. He visits Grey at the Med Bay so much that he almosts lives there. Carolina tries not to think about why.
“I’m going to kill him.”
“No you won’t. You like him too much,” Kimball looks at the chair next to Carolina’s bedside and then turns back, purses her lips. “They don’t even know you’re here right now, do they?” There is no question to who she’s talking about.
“No, they don’t.” By the time Sarge finds out and tells them, she’ll be gone. Back to tracking down planetside Charon soldiers and dragging them to the justice they deserve. So far she’s caught two dozen high ranking soldiers for trial. Her goal is to double it by the end of the year.
“They’re worried about you.”
“They shouldn’t be.”
“I’m worried about you.” Carolina’s gaze snaps to Kimball's face. She thinks back to after Charon, when Epsilon’s loss was a fresh hole in her head. How the war’s end left a crack in Kimball’s armor. The week of getting lost in each other to forget everything else.
Then Carolina heard of the efforts to track down what was left of Charon and Kimball was called on to play leader. Duty: it always came first.
“I have a job,” Kimball says. She clasps her hands behind her back, professional. “We have a handful of troops that want to help to track down what’s left of Charon. Good soldiers. But they need someone to keep them organized.”
Carolina knows bait when she sees it. “I’m assuming this is a desk job.”
Kimball’s expression remains blank. Carolina isn’t surprised; no woman survives a revolution without a good poker face. “Parts of it are, yes. But there are operations you would need to lead personally. And with the team you’d be able to track multiple targets simultaneously.”
It’s not a bad offer. N Kimball knows her, her love for duty above herself (she has the same drive, after all). This job is more than something to tempt her off the field: it’s a position she would actually excel at. Something she knows how to do. Something objectively better than what she’s doing now.
Carolina closes her eyes. Behind her eyelids she can see a flicker of Blue. An echo of a voice long gone floats through her brain.
“Ain’t that a bitch.”
Carolina shakes her head. It hurts like hell with the concussion. When she opens her eyes, Kimball is frowning. She knows. Of course she does.
I'm pretty sure she's frozen up there with the dragon. She had too much business with the Grimm to not get frozen by Silver eyes too.
Personally I think if the Grimm Dragon was completely frozen by it and if Cinder was still up there then she got vaporized. I bet Qrow or someone has been back up there since however long has passed and if they saw her frozen they would have mentioned it. Either that or she ran off when she realized oh shit.
Hey asshole, thanks for making me cry. Like a lot. Like a whole fucking- I can't even. I'm tired. I'm done. Good fic. Good fucking fic. Fuck. Why. Good fic. Damn it. You're not an ass, just. Good fic. That hurt. That hurt in every way itwas meant to.
I consider myself a specialist of angst and also stupid humor.
