Hey there, I hate asking but I just haven't been able to find my question in the petitions tag. I need to write a petition letter and I'm not exactly sure how to address it and write it. It says I need to put in two separate headings; Regulation(s) being petitioned: .• Circumstances or grounds for the petition. So do I just write "Dear Registrar's Office" and put those two headings and just under the reason and such? And sign it off? Or do I have to write it in like paragraph formal form?
I honestly wouldn’t worry so much about the exact layout, I think the committee likely encounters a lot of variability in student petitions so I think you should focus more just having a nice organized reply. Tbh, I don’t even think I used those two headings, I just tried to organize my letter in a logical order. On that note, I would lean towards writing in a paragraph formal form as that is what I was recommended to do.
Aside from that, I think I would address the Petitions Committee and not Registrar’s, and yes, definitely sign it :)
Don’t forget you can also meet with the YFS petitions advisor for free, they can go over your case and your letter and provide any advice you might need. When I went the advisor was extremely accurate and when I fixed my petition the way he mentioned, it was successful in going through.
