tw some descriptions of an eye injury + removing of that eye
concept/story bit: Welsknight gets captured by the Watchers and they(or just one of them) decides to experiment on him out of boredom and in the name of magic science, aka knocking Welsknight unconscious for at least a week to try and split his soul and mind into halves be inscribing a glyph on him, specifically his eye(the Watchers have a whole eye theme). They mess up the first time, piecing the lens part of his left eye and spilling ink into severed blood vessels in the eye. (the ink and pen are sterilized and the kind of ink is transparent and but a little purple tinted) The second time works, and the glyph essentially is: take a soul, crush it enough to pull apart, then put it back together as two parts, linking the bits just enough to keep the end result alive and coherent. When the Hermits find and rescue him, he's actually two pieces of himself (in the same body still) that do not know they are fragments, and think the other thing in their head is foreign, being hostile with each other, all the while their left eye is leaking a mix of tears, ink, and blood.
The ink in thier damaged eye turns out to blot the whole thing out, rendering it useless and harmful to them, so the whole eye had be removed, along with part of the optic nerve.
Both halves of Welsknight only have half of their memories and do not cope correctly, and frequently argue with themselves.
Also they can see the glyph on their remaining eye, like the shapes you see when staring at a bright light for too long but permanent and in a distinct shape. Sometimes it glows and blinds them for minutes at a time.

wels' old world was abandoned and corrupted, causing him to gain sentience. hels came into existence shortly after and is the personification of wels' desires
she was left to roam as her world was slowly dying until she was taken by xisuma to hermitcraft. when wels awoke in S6, she was forced to roam an empty world again, trying to reckon and get a grasp of her newly blossomed dragon traits. hels came back to taunt her
when cub took wels to S7, he started isolating. if he forced it on himself, he could at least pretend that they didn't hate him, that it was him who was at fault. he could certainly take care of hels on his own
eventually, the hermits started to notice that she wasn't showing up to any meetings anymore. hypno found her hibernating in her room, unable to wake her. they waited every day, the other hermits coming by to give gifts or just ramble on about what's been going on
when wels awoke again, he awoke to hypno and jevin quietly talking between themselves, snuggled on either side of wels. the three of them weren't really seen for the next couple weeks until wels finally decided he was ready to explore their server again and was promptly reminded why he accepted his invite to the server in the first place

Apparently I'm a prophet, but all of my prophecies are lame ones. Like I was watching a video in the little picture in picture mode while I was doing my snap streak and right as the video got to a certain point I got this overwhelming sense of deja vu and I realized that I'd seen that exact moment in a dream before. I can't believe I can see the future sometimes but my only prophecies are "you will be watching a welsknight video and he will be placing chains right as you send your snap streak photo for 726 day streak" Likes sorry but I can't help save the world with that???
Not my chat comment but it might as well have been. Me and that chatter are 🤝
Wels: [reading comment] "My 3 streamers are Wels, Hypno and xB. What does that tell- what does that say about me?" It says you have good taste, that's what it says.
Im gonna make a mega base in my world and it's gonna be a castle and it's gonna be welsknight's fault because ever since I started watching I always wanna build a castle
I want people to draw welsjev more, I mean I can draw and all but I don't draw ship art which is depressing
Been thinking a ton about the fact that many fanfics of Wels will often incorporate the lack of Hermits acknowledgement of his late start to season 7 - irl it makes sense as his very legitimate reasons but I am talking lore wise - and it is so so so fucking interesting to me. My big huge Hermit thoughts.
Like the implications that the Hermits just never acknowledge it to Wels and therefore he never really brings it up either despite the severity of what transpired. Waking up on a dead world with all your friends gone and barely anyone having even batted an eye at your absence is horrible. Do they not bring it up because they don't know how to navigate the topic, do they not bring it up because Wels has asked for the space to not be obligated to think about it, do they think they are doing a kindness by not making him relive that, or is it an act of self preservation because it would mean acknowledging a hard and terrible thing they did and felt maybe little to no guilt over at the time only to be faced with the consequences of their inaction later.
In my heart, I imagine at least some of the Hermits trying to talk to Wels about it - people like Hypno or maybe Jevin as folks closer to Wels, maybe Xisuma as the server Admin and therefore having some form of responsibility over Wels and his neglect, etc etc - and maybe they try to talk to him about it. Maybe they try and fumble their way through apologies and excuses or take accountability only for it to feel so flat and short. I wonder if there's the unspoken tension of "you wouldn't have forgotten if it were someone else," lacing those conversations, or "you would have fought for anyone else but me," being unsaid but felt. What's worse? Not talking about it at all and pretending it never happened, deluding yourself into thinking it's all okay just because you are looking away from the active hurt; or trying to talk about it only for it to be unspoken and yet felt that you simply didn't care. Is not bringing it up a kindness, and if so, who to? Who tries to make this better, how can you soothe an ache so fierce? Who says sorry and means it and who proves themself enough to Wels he can believe it?
I want this to haunt them. I want Wels to have grown so fucking bitter over this but at the same time that part of his brain that refuses to see them all as anything but kind - he witnesses their kindness, their love for one another, it must be an issue with him, he must be the source - and the obligation of forgiveness masks his underlying and very real growing hurt and resentment. That man is loyal as a dog. I want there to be a crash when it comes to light that Cub never came searching for him because it was strange to him that Wels wasn't there along side them, that he and Ren and Scar never batted an eye despite being Kingdoms guys together, but it was all an accident. Wels was found and rescued by coincidence, not out of intention. How much worse would that sting? He wasn't even worth a search effort.
