idly, link’s hand traveled to where he kept the twili crystal. he could feel it reaching for him, its magic twisted with all that remained of ganon’s power. it was his power now. midna had shown him how to turn its curse into a gift.
a sheepish smile on his now human face overtook his expression. he’d just stood up from where his transformation had left him on all fours, particles of twili magic falling to the floor and dissipating where they landed. he was getting better at utilizing the triforce he still bore to aid in the shifting process where before he’d had help of midna, the spirits, or zelda herself.
“ yeah, ” he said humbly, dusting off his knees. “ ‘ve been workin’ on gettin’ stuck less. last time i missed time with ilia ‘n’ epona and she almost had my head. ”
he paused, and remembered that because the princess knew of his ability to shapeshift, she also knew of his ability to communicate with other animals when one himself.
( conversations with epona were always very sweet, though she made it clear she still preferred her companion’s human form. )
“ ilia, i mean. epona was pretty understanding about it. ”
