Since Sam had gone, a hollow ache had presided where his comfort once lay. There weren't many places left where Frodo did not feel hollow, but at least, to his understanding, the place and peace that came from walking was at least, untouched.
For now.
So he took the time as best he could, gathering a rather impressive list of groceries for his Uncle and himself to provide in their living quarters, thinking it fairly ironic that he was an errand boy once again. As if nothing had changed, when everything had.
Still, he couldn't truly complain, distractions were constantly needed, lest the hobbit's mind travel to grim things, like Dark Lords and fire, golden rings that held him in their thrall.
As usual, the crowds in District Five were impressive, full of goods and wares he'd not seen even in his wanderings on Arda. He was curious to look but not curious enough to dare when it came to some of them. They looked as Sam would have put, 'unnatural' and a faint curve touched his lips.
'Unnatural indeed,' he mused, peering down at his list again before taking note of a fairly lost looking girl, a human as he began to use the term, peering about as if seeking something.
While it often kept to himself, he couldn't deny a young person who needed help, it hadn't been within his nature. Time spent with his precious cousins had instilled that will in him.
"Excuse me, " Frodo called politely, sack draped over one arm, long list in the other.
"Are you looking for something? You seem rather lost, if you beg my pardon." Contrite blue eyes met hers, older than they seemed, but full of an inexplicable kindness, no matter how bad things became.

❀ Zero did not ask for help, she demanded it; that was only if she had swallowed enough of her pride to allow herself to realize that she was in a predicament that required some sort of outside assistance. A complex enigma that frustrated the intoner beyond the breaches of her intelligence. Admitting such a thing occurred or was occurring was rare, in the form of words, and usually those around her, apostles or dragon companion would hesitate to point it out for fear of losing their own head...
So, to see the frustrated intoner hacking her sword into the trunk of the tree, placing her foot on the bark as leverage when she pulled it out, and driving the blade right back in again was not atypical. Nor was the loud DIE, DIE, DIE! Which escaped the ill-tempered woman's lips with every swing.
Of course, any normal response would be to ask such an upset person what the cause of their peril was, but if anyone were to approach the unreasonable, volatile utautai they might find themselves taking the brunt of her emotions.
As for what could cause such a reaction, it was anything from a minor annoyance to something earth shattering. At present it seemed that memories of home started to return to her mind at an alarming rate. They were jumbled, confusing, yet familiar things that Zero didnt seem to particularly enjoy harboring. Usually a bot more reserved about such things, it was a bit surprising to see her acting out her frustration..or perhaps it really wasnt.
Still, when the movement of another caught her eye she would sneer a bit, placing a hand on her hip as she pulled her sword from the tree once more, really a miracle it was still standing. Her sharp tone would hack through the air, directed at the person who had drawn close enough to her, her head turned partly over her shoulder.❀
"As if I wouldnt know you were standing there."
