@eternion replied to your chat “Justice: I have made Anders stronger by fusing with him. Me: You...”
Justice did nothing wrong with Anders. He gave him purpose, He strengthened him. Anders was already frustrated, angry and sad, but he was also helpless without Justice. With Justice he was able to fulfill what he really wanted.
I love Justice and I love Anders, but Justice absolutely messed up Anders and Anders messed up Justice. Don’t get me wrong, it was kind and noble for Anders to help a friend and Justice has protected Anders. It was still wrong in the end.
Because yes, Anders was always full of anxiety, he was frustrated, angry, and sad. The only difference being that his coping mechanism was humor and his only want was his freedom. Anders was NOT helpless without Justice though, he was clever, charismatic, and strong before.
What Justice did was direct Anders away from his personal freedom to the freedom of others. What Justice did was help Anders become selfless, to care more about others (maybe with the help of the Warden, depending on Awakening’s outcome).
Justice showed Anders that he could wait for no one else to bring down the Chantry or Circle. That unless he acted, things would Never change.
However, Justice also turned Anders ruthless. The mage tearing apart enemies with his hands and teeth.
He turns and runs, and from behind, I tear his head off at the neck, no magic, just me, whatever that is now. His blood splashes into my open mouth and it tastes like honeyed wine and the warmth spreads through me. ~Anders’ Official Short Story
He worked Anders tirelessly, so that he spent little time taking care of himself.
He refused and disapproved of Anders’ levity, such as drinking, sex, love, or any overindulgence, because they are “distractions”.
“Justice doesn’t let me get drunk anymore. I kind of miss it.” ~Anders, DA2
“Justice does not approve of my obsession with you, he believes you’re a distraction.” ~Anders, DA2
He forced Anders to go through with the Chantry explosion. I’m no fan of the rivalmance, but it becomes obvious that Justice is the one fixated on the destruction of the neutrality. While Anders is hesitant and a full rivalmance w/ siding with the Templars shows that he is disgusted with himself for the explosion.
Even Anders feels unsettled and uncomfortable with Justice within him, and yes it is so important for Hawke to love him as he is and support his decisions. However, you also have to take in to account how Anders feels, he is the one with Justice inside him and the one who knows all that Justice has done/does to him. To say that Justice has only done him good, is to invalidate the doubt and worry that Anders feels.
This is not justice. This is not the spirit who was my friend, my self. What has he become? What have I become? We must get out of here. ~Anders’ Official Short Story
“But my anger...when I see Templars now, things that have always outraged me, but I could never do anything about. He comes out. And he is no longer my friend Justice. He is a force of vengeance. And he has no grasp of mercy.” ~Anders, DA2
“He comes only when I’ve lost all power over myself. It’s madness, a frenzy. I only find out after, what I might have done.” ~Anders, DA2
“The curse is of my own making. All I can do is hope to control it.” ~Anders, DA2
I love Anders and Justice, and sometimes I’ll absolutely make jokes on either side of them (Justice gave Anders anxiety lol, or lol this place about the bloooow). But there are some things about Justice!Anders that actually are not good and healthy, regardless of how much I believe in and support them.
eternion replied to your post “For Fenris shippers, “fucking mages” have two different meanings.”
I like this interpretation...
*runs into a group of blood mages* Fenris: Fucking mages everywhere! Hawke: Stop showing off, Fenris, we know! All of Hightown knows! Varric: Everywhere huh? Even the Viscount’s throne room? Ooh, or maybe in the Deep Roads when you two thought you wouldn’t make it out alive? I need to write this down Isabela: I hear Grey Wardens have great stamina. That explains why Anders seems tired all the time. Been getting to know Anders’ staff work, eh?
And then all 3 rogues stealthily run away as Fenris chases them with his sword.
Not seeing enough Bulges in your life? Don't worry Vorusu Bois will surely "Fill" it up for you in there swimsuits

eternion replied to your post: eternion: havesomegin: team-magi: Why is it...
Yes. I know. I never “conscript” the mages, and I didn’t go for the Templars (yet?) But I saw the option on the dialogue wheel, and I watched the Templar options. And the difference annoy me.
This has been since the first game. When you play the Amell/Surana Origin you see what utterly callous bastards BOTH Irving and Gregoir are (the grandfatherly demeanor is a facade), and we have heard about the difficulties of Templars from the beginning (if you talk to the two at the Denerim Chantry, Carroll, and Irminric, you clearly see the poor Templars, lyrium addiction/withdrawal is soooo bad) and yet in Inquisition, Cassandra tells you that while the complaints of mages are well known, the suffering of Templars is a big secret.
Beyond that:
The Chantry, ultimately, is responsible for ALL of this. For the addiction of templars, for the abuses they allow of mages, for the propaganda drummed into the faithfuls’ ears from the day they are born.
I don’t think it’s so much Bioware stacking the deck as showing what the effect of the Chantry day in and day out for a thousand years preaching the evil of magic has done to the moral fabric of Thedas.
@eternion replied to your post “Not the first anon, but I really think Cullen HASN’T changed. I…”
He regenerates more slowly than Fenris. I no wonder: he had a much greater trauma when he was in the Kinloch Hold, than Fenris when he was with Danarius.
