so did ben like. also half raise ethan. because the others killed ethan’s parents yeah. and ben actually liked horace/ethan’s dad because the guy actually tried to look out for him when his own dad didn’t. so did he look after ethan because of that?? like he still couldn’t stand ethan lol guy got on his nerves. but when ben kidnapped baby alex, ethan was right there by his side. were they grouped together because they were ex-dharma, or was ethan always like ben’s little brother?

Also, why not try a normal c-section? They don’t normally kill the mother

Eko’s speech to ‘Henry’ is... quite something, isn’t it?
And now we get to see Ben do what he does best! He get’s under Locke’s skin so damn fast. Killer villain
Overall Review:
An episode which really only works well on first viewing. It’s a mystery, and so it’s not as fun when you know all the answers. In fact, some of those answers don’t even make sense. And this is 33% of the total Claire episodes in the whole show, which is infuriating. But hey, and least we got some more juicy Claire x Kate content!
An episode where not much happens. Also, a lot happens
What happens to Sawyer as a kid is... horrific. I mean, no wonder he’s fucked up
So I’ve got the transcripts of what the whispers are saying on a tab now. There are some very strange ones, given that they’re supposedly invisible ghosts, for example: "Did he see us?", "What if he shoots us or something?", "Hide against the bushes"
Why can Sawyer hear not-Sawyer’s voice? He didn’t die on the island
You know, I’d forgotten how funny this episode is
Knowing that this guy Hibbs wants Sawyer to kill not-Sawyer makes certain lines stand out. For example, Hibbs tells Sawyer ‘we both know you ain't the killing type’ when Sawyer has him against the wall. I love all the subtle manipulation in Sawyer’s episodes
Why does Jack seem mad at Kate for making out with Sawyer? It wasn’t her idea, and they were trying so save someone’s life
You know, I’ve changed my mind. Kate’s only annoying around Jack. She’s basically fine around Sawyer, sometimes even compelling. At least in the early seasons
I’d forgotten this little side plot about Charlie. I had just thought there were no repercussions to him shooting Ethan. Seems I was wrong, which is great
However, Hurley says he shot Ethan 4 times, when in fact it was six times
The ‘I Never’ scene is really great. No stupid dialogue, no forced love triangle, just a chance for these very closed off characters to open up a bit. And props to the actors, too - they kill it here!
Christian shows up everywhere, doesn’t he?
Going forward, we should note that at no point does Christian tell Sawyer his name
Well that Hippocratic Oath really has flown out of the window, hasn’t it?
After everything she’s learned about Sawyer, why is it holding up a piglet and yelling the thing that makes her change her mind about helping him?
Who knew that a scene where a character stares at a pig for a few minutes could carry such emotion?
The raft was built very fast, wasn’t it?
I get that we need Jack to say ‘That’s why the Sox will never win the series’ so Sawyer can twig that he’s Christian’s son, but within the context of the conversation, I have no idea what he’s talking about
Overall Review:
It is incredibly refreshing to have a really great character piece in this show again. This is what I’m here for, and this episode does not disappoint. Sawyer’s arc really is something, isn’t it?
Lost Rewatch: 1x11 All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues
This episode is focused on Jack. You know, that character who is definitely most like a cowboy
If there was a struggle, surely there should be a lot more evidence than just some footprints?
Thing this show doesn’t explain #4: How was Ethan able to drag Charlie and a very pregnant Claire off by himself, fast enough to keep away from Jack and the other Losties, who are going very fast?
Lampshading it doesn’t stop it from being an issue, show
Jack, do you seriously think you’ll be able to find Ethan by yourself?
So you’re letting Kate and Boone go, but not Michael? Why? Michael has already proved to be a lot more useful than those other two numpties

The flashbacks tend to relate to what the character is thinking at the time, right? Why is Jack thinking about when he got his dad fired?

So Charlie or Ethan were laying a trail with Charlie’s finger tapes. Alright, fine. But they’ve been going for hours, and out of nowhere we get two in the space of five minutes? What a rubbish trail

This scene between Sawyer and Walt is random as hell and I love it
Okay, so Kate says she’s not as good at tracking as Locke is, but turns out she was the correct one
Christian calls him a ‘young surgeon’ in the flashback, and he looks quite a bit younger than he did when he died, but Jack looks identical. That’s young?
So Sawyer comes up to Sayid ready to beat the shit out of him, Sayid tells him about Danielle, and they’re fine? That doesn’t sound like S1 Sawyer to me
This little scene with Walt playing backgammon with Hurley is our first clue that something’s off with Walt

If that’s the case, why does he tell Jack to stop following him? What are you doing, Ethan?

You see, this is what I mean by ‘Kate works way better with all the characters that aren’t Jack or Sawyer’. She only says two sentences to Shannon, but I’m more interested in this than in anything she’s been doing all the rest of the episode
Oh look, they found the hatch! Wow, everything that’s happened up to this point really was irrelevant, wasn’t it?
Overall Review:
This is much more a plot driven story than a character piece. Stuff happens to the characters in buckets, but we don’t get much on how it effects them as people. And seeing as I care more about the characters than the plot, I’m counting that as a negative. Additionally, I care way more about Jack on-island than off-island, and he’s pretty much just reacting to things while on the island. Well, that and beating miracle corpse Charlie
Overall Rating: 4.5/10
Some funny moments that elevate it above things like Walkabout. A necessary episode, but not a particularly enjoyable one, imo
Ah yes, Juliet episode, so prepare for misery and emotional turmoil. My kind of television!

As far as I’m aware, this is the first time they do the ‘Woah they’re actually not on the island’ fakeout, and it’s easily the best done here. Ethan, the facility-looking corridor Juliet’s walking down, Rachel saying “Are you afraid he'll find out?” - it all makes sense within the context of what’s happening
Wait, I thought Jack knocked that other guy in the room unconscious?
I’m not quite sure what Juliet’s plan is in getting this other guy to catch and/or kill Sawyer and Kate
Given who we learn Juliet is, I am very surprised that she was at one point married to such a prick
Not only that, but she keeps his last name! Actually, I can understand that - he seems like quite the manipulator. Quite the Ben lite
How did Alex know exactly where Sawyer and Kate where?

They play off Ben waking up early with Jack saying that he’s not an anaesthesiologist, but there’s quite a large difference between many hours and twenty minutes

Wait; when Ben wakes up, Jack has just said that he has 40 minutes before he dies, but when Juliet comes back in Ben says he has half an hour left. It took ten minutes from Juliet to get here from just outside the building?
They seem to start building Tom up as the comic relief Other, and as possibly the seconds nicest one after Juliet. Which is an odd choice, given that this was the guy who personally kidnapped Walt and was the primary antagonist of Season 2

Kate says that her threatening to shoot that random guy’s knee ‘wasn’t a con’ - great line, by the way, great to see Kate being Kate - but we’ve already established that they don’t have any bullets left, so it had to be a con
The scene where Rachel tells Juliet that she’s pregnant gets me every time
So Juliet’s ex-husband being hit by a bus was obviously Richard. But why would he do that, when Juliet would obviously be suspicious. Why not hit him with a car?
If Tom doesn’t like blood, why was he in the surgery in the first place?
Tom says they can’t take Ben to a facility since they sky turned purple, but surely they were planning this whole Jack manipulation thing for a while beforehand, right? Hell, they sky turned purple as Jack was being captured. Why couldn’t they have taken Ben to a facility beforehand?
So, does Juliet have no emotional reaction to shooting a colleague? Hell, as far as we know, this is the first time she’s ever shot anyone - surely that would have an affect on a person?
Jack asks Kate to promise not to come after him, but then hangs up before she can
Ughhh, when you’re breaking down crying over the death of your ex-husband, Ethan’s face is definitely not one you’re gonna want to see
Why the hell would Richard decide to show up at the morgue? Does he want Juliet to put two and two together?
“I've been on this island for 3 years, Jack. 3 years, 2 months, and 28 days. He said that if I let him live and I helped you -- that he would finally let me go home.” - that really hurts when you know what happens to her in the end
Overall Review:
I really enjoy this episode. Most of the stuff with basically every character I don’t care all that much about, but Juliet! It’s at this point where you realise that everything’s not so black and white - maybe not all these Others are as bad as they first appear
I know this is totally fucked up, but hey, that's me in a nutshell.. But I totally ship Claire and Ethan. Like, here, they look totally cute together, oh my god. :$
