Beau had gotten up early Friday morning to complete the task set by Ethan. Cooking anything was so not his forte. But pancakes couldn’t be too hard, right? It was easy enough to mix up the batter considering the instructions were right there. Beau picked out a plastic spatula (remembering what Jackson had told him about everything metal with pans) and set the pan to heat. He remembered just in time that he needed to put something down first, spraying the hot pan with baking spray before starting to cook the pancakes. The first few attempts were terrible, somehow burned on the outside and still mushy on the inside. Beau huffed, wiping his forehead and leaving a streak of mix on his skin. He kept going though, slowly improving with each one, though they still wound up burned on one side and undercooked on the other. Eventually he had a stack high enough for the task. They didn’t have to be edible, after all. And Beau was rather proud of himself - he’d managed to cook something without setting off any alarms or setting anything on fire. Total win.
