Social media is the worst. I just wanna be like happy birthday, miss you, hope you're happy, but that's messy so I have to couch it in ironic bullshit.

POST WAR setting wherein Naruto is the revered hero of Konoha - which he absolutely adores, don't get him wrong - but even heroes get a little bit tired from the attention. In his spare time, he retreats to the Yamanaka flower shop, where he helps Ino do her flower arrangement. Since after the war many people were lost, flowers were in high demand, and Naruto was quick (okay, not that quick - but he eventually caught on) to notice that Ino was completely exhausted and over-worked.
Over time, they became much better friends, though eventually Naruto seemed to find that the more he spent time at the florist's, the less he actually noticed the flowers and the more he noticed Ino. The way her hair caught the sunlight in the most perfect of ways; the pale colour of her eyes that reminded him of lilies and clear summer days. The gentle fragrance she carried around with her - partially the flowers, but something else; as if she carried the sun itself on her skin.
His words began to jumble when he was around her, his cheeks burning with the intensity of a thousand suns whenever their hands brushed over each other's - which they used to laugh off. Eventually he put his newfound flower arranging skills to good use, spending all night creating the perfect bouquet for Ino.
Yellow chrysanthemum, for secret admirer. Pansies, for loving thoughts. Sunflowers, for adoration. Bright coloured flowers and meanings he had learned from Ino. He left the bouquet on her desk, with a scrawled note -
Flowers for the flower girl. - Naruto
And of course, she loved them.
