No one had ever told Gon most people couldn’t knock trees over with one punch if they were angry enough. So he, like every adult, had assumed he was quirkless. It wouldn’t be that surprising, since his aunt was quirkless, and they didn’t know anything about his mother.
What was surprising was watching Mito’s shocked face after Gon punched a man across the street for harassing her. And listening to her fret the entire way home. And then getting a letter from a pro hero that Gon had been recommended for the hero course at UA. And then getting an acceptance letter from UA.
Mito had cried the day he got it, Gon somewhat baffled by her tears but still vibrating in excitement. He could be a hero, like his dad. It sounded great. Significantly better than staying on the farm his entire life. The anxiety over going to a world-renowned high school, after being home schooled his entire life, was nothing in comparison to how excited he was. In the course of a week he’d accidentally broken seven pieces of furniture before Mito sent him outside to burn off his energy.
Now, standing outside the doors of the school itself, Gon can feel his heart hammering. There’s going to be kids his age he can befriend, people who have strong quirks like him, who also want to be heros. Nothing could’ve kept him sitting still as he hops from side to side, bursting with energy. Even the school uniform, to formal and restricting for his preference, wasn’t much of a deterrent to his hyperactivity. The jacket has already been pulled off and tied to his bag, top button of his shirt undone and his tie loosened, even if Mito had warned him not to do that. He doesn’t care. Even if everyone around him was giving him weird looks, he’s to revved up to pay attention. All he cares about is finding his classroom, which is when he realizes; He has absolutely no idea where he’s supposed to go once he steps inside.
Maybe someone around here knows?
