Week One
Post Two:
-Currently it’s not possible to make a connection between Ethnic Notions and a previously assigned film because it is our first film.
-However, the first film “Ethnic Notions” is relative to the film “Get Out”, which is a film we will watch later on the semester. In both of the films “Get Out” and “Ethnic Notions”, they confront the false portrayal of blacks being completely willing and content with serving whites forever and subliminally parallel that imagery with the antithetical notion of the blacks in the film silently suffering. Both films paid great attention to detail in the ways servants were dressed. In full uniform and with a smile the idea that blacks were “happy as servants” is a portrayal that proves the vestiges of slavery are alive and well to this very day.
