❛ this wasn’t how it was supposed to go. ❜ noct.
korin’s sorrow strikes him all the more helpless, because she has been fit in the role to know. oracles plea, not refute. despite her efforts, the strides forward and the failures setting her back, she’s keen enough to tell the cruelty is beyond their comprehension: her dagger. in her chest, it had been her dagger.
noctis is only made aware of it in the aftermath, and piecing the scattered, bleeding clues is as painful as the truth itself. he wants to forget and move forth, but every wound is still fresh and alive, and they stand as the pulsing proof of it. they are still alive. it’s an intimate kind of regret and denial, the one they share. he doesn’t know what to say to make it any better, because this isn’t how it was supposed to go⸺ but that’s where they’re wrong.
everything is playing out so accurately to the plan, even their grief.
his arms around her shoulders aren’t comfort enough, and he’s aware. not when he’s faintly trembling with heartbreak; when something breaks, the shattering reverberates. “ he . . . he wasn’t supposed to be there. he manipulated it. all of it. you, ravus, the rest of us. ” his mouth is dry and his voice strained with neglect as of late, but he finds it in him to mutter once more, a small plea for her relief, “ you couldn’t have known. ”
short angst sentences. ♡ * closed ! @etoila.
(throws onion rings at his horns) ❤️
he continues to quietly read his book as korin continues to toss the contents of her bag of onion rings at his horns. after a few minutes he sighs, closing his book & picking up another. all the while he has yet to acknowledge the other or what she's doing. if someone didn't know better they'd assume malleus was unaware of it all. but then he speaks. ❛ such a shame to waste all this food. we really must work on your aim, amatani. only five out of fifty? i'm a bit disappointed. ❜

and my kiss?
hold on babe i'm looking at the pretty flowers
'maybe if you tried aiming you would get a bullseye. just a tip.' she's nothing if not helpful after all!
“ so now the discount cetra is gonna start givin' me advice. ” and he’s nothing if not petty !
“ you promise you won’t judge if i tell you how it happened ? ” considering ‘ it ’ was almost reinjuring his bad knee, noctis had a bit of explaining to do. he expected someone to be sent looking for him after he had spent a little too long away from camp, and somehow, he was glad it was her; she had the nimblest hands out of the group, which made the bandaging of his leg a breeze. well, with the occassional grunt. noctis shifts where he sits, awkwardly, “ . . .awildchocobomayormaynothavepushedme. ” @etoila + [ bandage ].
