Jefrey and the boys have the nakamal underway. Timber is sourced locally from around our village. The boys used premixed concrete for the first time! This will be the only modern material used in what will be a traditional nakamal. A nakamal is a traditional meeting place in Vanuatu. It is used for gatherings and ceremonies. The 'Nakamal' gets underway next week. The boys pegged out the footprint. The local boys from Eton Village are well known for their construction of traditional nakamals...' meeting places'... From the nakamal you will be able to look out to the ocean; we are putting in a traditional coral sand floor.
