Hey are you guys doing 2023 any different or are the prompts gonna be the same as last year? Asking to hopefully get a bit of a head start 👀

Ooh, an early ask - haven't had one of these before!

The hope is that Mod Dan is going run it this year (I myself have. Far too much on my hands)! In the meantime, I'll be working to make a new list of prompts, update the carrd and keep an eye on reblogs as Eddtober happens.

Expect the prompts list sometime late September!

Is it the same prompt list as last year?

Actually, I did an old poll that regarded this question a while back here!

If you haven’t read the post, I’ll clarify all of it again here. 

For the most part, yes, the prompt list is the same as always! Except for the last two prompts - which I have changed to:

30) Create something for who or what got you into EW. What's your story? How did you get here? (Do you have 90 minutes?)

31) Create something for you being inserted into Eddsworld in any way. (Because here in Eddtober, cringe culture is dead and we don’t hesitate to self-insert.) Be it you hanging with the guys or going on an eddventure, the context and situation is up to you!

The first reason why I changed them is because... To me, they didn’t sit right. And as someone who personally doesn’t celebrate Halloween (though I do joke around in and about it), I felt kinda uncomfortable about keeping it like that. I’m sure there’s also others who feel the same way as I do.

The second reason why I changed them was because having two sudden Halloween prompts at the end feels... Abrupt, out of place. Especially in the last set of prompts that provokes wholesomeness and thankfulness. I wanted to continue that wave of wholesome times, so hence why I changed it. 

However, that isn’t to say you can’t do the old prompts at all - they’re now under the Eddstra Prompts list (a hopefully endless list of prompts for creators returning to Eddtober to use when they don’t want to do the main ones). And not only so, it’s totally okay and perfect for you to combine those Eddstra Prompts with any of the main list. Including the old Halloween prompt with the new last prompt, for example!

In light of all this now, I want to reaffirm that yes, I am all ears for the community and I want to hear you out, listen to you and work with you in making Eddtober awesome. But at the same time, I do have a final say as the main event runner and creator of the list. That does mean sometimes I will make descisions for Eddtober without any influence other than my own, but I definitely will keep you updated about that if and when it does happen.

Nope. I’m a nonshipper, actually! Though the only ship I really sail in Eddsworld is friendship.

But you do you, I’ll do me, and we won’t do each other… Most Certainly.

Mind to explain the prompt 19 ? I don't get it, Todd in the 25 Dirdum Lane ? The only "Todd" I know is the Tord figure in Saloonatics...

Y’know how Tord used to be part of the Eddsworld crew before he left? Similar deal for Eduardo’s crew. It’s to come up with a character who would effectively be the Tord in that area.

I think we all just call him Todd for the most part thanks to this old ask of Edd’s...

So who's your most favorite Eddsworld character and why?

For me, it’s been Edd from the start. As for why, I’m not sure. I guess I have a thing for leader-like characters, and I always found him more appealing than Tom, Matt or Tord.

Gore about the real versions of them. But i guess that’s kinda obvious from the start so maybe,self harming gore in a romanticized fashion way and gore that’s too extreme. idk

Added to the list. Though more detail on ‘Extreme Gore’ will be needed to put in properly to the list.

What motivated you to create this blog?

I decided it was about time to do so after hosting Eddtober last year on my main - I needed a place to keep Eddtober activity seperate from my own whilst still showing support, so this blog was the way to go for me.

I’d rather not.  

See, Eddtober was about not just Edd the character, but had a focus on the other characters, Eddsworld as a whole, and even paying respects to Edd Gould on his birthday. It’s a mission to return the fandom to its roots via unconventional creativity: whether it’s art, writing, animation, or even RPG games. Especially since most of the fandom only get into it for Tom and Tord content most of the time, sometimes not even knowing who Edd is!

If you have something like ‘Tordvember’, you lose all of what was mentioned above. And I don’t wish to see that happen. 

If you want to run Tordvember for yourself and the fandom, that is entirely on you, not me. But I implore you to consider the consequences that will come out of it. 

Would you be ready for that?
