The looming castle made of black stone has no name. It rests on the cliffs facing away from the Endless Sea and stands guard over the Kingdom of Etrea. Not even the Ivory Cathedral is free of its shadow when the setting sun lingers on the horizon behind it. It is one of many manifestations of the power and opulence that Etrea exudes. And for the monarchy that sits in it, it is the greatest.

how are marriage ceremonies in etrea?

The actual ceremony is akin to a handfasting ceremony with the eldest matriarch out of both families as the one conducting the ceremony.

Weddings in Etrea are as much as celebrations as a long religious ceremony for those who can afford it.  Nobility plan 3-4 day ceremonies meant to represent the successful joining of the families as well as a means to try and gain good luck from the All-Seer.  Gifts for the family as well as tithes for the Church are expected to be given, and if the family is lucky a priestess may come to bless the marriage.

For those who can’t spend the time or money for this, it is usually just a handfasting ceremony done at the most convenient time of day followed by as large of a meal they can manage for both families.

If the q&a thing is still going on and you haven't been asked this yet, why do mc's parents approve of m!royal and not f!royal? I remember I that in a post when I was obsessively scrolling the other night and I couldn't find an explanation as to why. (I've only actually done the demo with m!royal)

An f!royal would have a claim to the Etrean throne should something happen to the MC and they didn’t have any children.

What exactly is a Champion? How far up the ranks are they considered? Do they have any specific duties?

Essentially a Champion is a bodyguard for those born into the Royal family, and that is their primary and official duty.  However it is not uncommon for Champions to be the unofficial hand and advisor of the person they’ve been assigned to.  The Mage for example, has a small network of informants within the court as well as their university contacts.  

A Champion’s rank within the court is largely dependent on the person they protect.  The Champion of the heir to the throne is more likely to be treated with more respect and more power than say the Champion of a fifth child.  This is largely because the more important the royal family member the greater the influence of the Champion’s advice/information could have on the court and people of Etrea.

So who's kingdom is at war or potentially at war with the other? Who are allies? I replayed to demo again last night and I'm getting invested in the story!

The Alliance consists of all of the kingdom’s except Etrea, who left and isolated itself to avoid a war over the introduction of magic to their society.  

But at the start of the game Etrea has begun to encroach onto Avralux at the Oracle’s command.

So we and our sibling have Champions, does that mean that our parents Queen Alessia and High General Arkus also have one? At what age do we get our Champion? Is it possible for a Champion to be 'passed down' to a younger Royal that doesn't have a Champion yet incase the one they were assigned to has died? If not, what happens to them?

Alessia and Arkus both weren’t born into the royal family like the MC and their sibling was so they don’t have Champions.  Generally a Royal gets their Champion anywhere from 7-10 years old, but there are cases of Champions being selected much earlier.  

The fate of retired Champions vary as some do choose to leave court in favor of a quiet “common” life.  But all are allowed to stay at court for as long as they want with the ability to come and go freely.  And since all are combat trained the younger ones have been occasionally offered a position in the Warmasters.

What are the royal colours of the 5 kingdoms?

Etrea: Purple and gold

Avralux: Blue and silver

Lucidia: Black and white

Maxim: Green and gold

Gwendl: White and red

Lore question! Suppose, if the queen of Etrea had two daughters, then who would be Crown Princess? The elder one, or the more 'competent' one, even if they are younger/not well-liked? What about if there were two sons? Which one would be High General? Would being twins complicate matters?

In the case of two daughters it would be be the choice of the Queen.  Naturally it would be the eldest, but it isn’t unusual for the Queen to make the decision to change who’s best for the throne.  Alessia, for example, would choose the one more like herself and the Queen before her would have chosen the most well-liked daughter.  So twins wouldn’t really complicate the line to the throne.

If it was two sons the Queen would be expected to choose a woman within her  family, preferably immediate if she can, to take the throne.  If there isn’t anyone within her family then she’d be expected to look at Matriarchs for each house.
