I went on a trip to the Innisfail area with my parents to ease the cabin fever.
The State Government has eased the strict Covid restrictions to allow travel up to 150km from the home for recreation and visting. The one cafe we visited for lunch followed the mandated restrictions for eateries so we were safe.
It wasn’t a good day for sight seeing, it’s been raining for over a week in FNQ, but it was nice to get out. And we got quite the surprise! On the road out to Etta Bay we ran into (actually we stopped well ahead of him) a Cassowary!
Cassorwaries don’t have much road sense and I think we startled him a bit, so we stopped a safe distance away, and let him go on about his dinosaur business. Which involved him getting closer and checking out the car. And because they can be dangerous we kept all the doors and windows closed and let him be.
