Do NOT interrupt Tea Time
OR look at their mom, at all, not even for one second 😤
Reading little Kakashi obsessing over Orochimaru's tea in @vodkassassin 's Ear To The Wall while drinking tea is an experience.
eyes to the wind, chapter one: the boy from spinner's end
this is my canon compliant fic following lily evans from childhood to death (this first chapter is may 1969 to september 1971)! i've been working very hard on it for a long time now and i'm so excited to finally start posting <3
lily evans and severus snape
eyes to the wind, chapter two: small mercies
"Sooner than she’d hoped, the words Evans, Lily were echoing through the Hall.
But I’m not ready! she wanted to cry.
Her body moved without much instruction from her mind, carrying her to the stool. She looked up at the emerald-robed woman, the stern face unwavering above her as she lowered the hat onto Lily’s head.
In the end, it was all over in less than a second. Small mercies.
Lily thought she heard a small hmph in her ear, then the hat was making her head rattle with the force of it shouting, “GRYFFINDOR!”
She gingerly removed the hat to pass back to its keeper and stood up on shaky legs. As she hurried to the table on the far left, she glanced back at Severus. His face was sunken in disappointment. All she had to offer was a sad little smile and a prayer that he would forgive her."
I'm rereading (already the fourth, fifth time?) Ear to the Wall, and an unexpected thought occurred to me. Could the Shinobi who drove Kakashi to identify his father intend to traumatize him with this? They were kind of disliked a lot at that time, and people in the village still don't like Kakashi a year later, I guess.what do you think? I wrote this at night with the help of a translator, some mistakes are possible lol
You hit the nail on the head with this, my friend 😔 the people at the morgue/hospital who forced Kakashi to come and identify his father did it maliciously. It was clearly Sakumo, there was no doubt about it, but they were ‘just following protocol, there’s nothing they could do about it. Poor kid tho 🤷🏼♀️”
Anyway yeah, you read underneath the underneath and caught that little implication in my writing! Just bitter, malicious adults abusing their positions in society to take their anger out on an a innocent little kid as a scapegoat. It’s a Konoha specialty, I’ve heard.
did you mean for orochimaru to be a key character in ear to the wall or did he kind of just... show up?
Honestly, ETTW came to be because I kept daydreaming about one specific scene, the graveyard scene. I wrote that out and then the rest of the story came to be around it. And yes, Orochimaru was always present in that scene. However, did I plan for him to be a key character? Actually, Orochimaru is the one who wrote Ear to the Wall, not me.
