The oldest book I own is about as old as my grandpa. This may not seem like much, but keep in mind that gramps was old enough to have received an Imperial Japanese college education, as a subject of the Japanese Empire (not a citizen, mind you. He had nothin to do with the many, many, many atrocities committed by the Japanese). In another decade or so, that book'll be havin its hundredth birthday. Not bad for a western novel. For the record, the book is Texas Sheriff by Eugene Cunningham, first edition. I first read it cover to cover one weekend in the Texas Tech University Library stacks. It became my favorite. When I moved back home, I immediately went on ebay, and was extremely fortunate to have found a copy for sale. It ain't worth much, monetarily speakin, but it's a treasured piece of cultural history. @paintedcowboy @tx-tornado @offthebeatenpathtexas @pmm-71 if y'all ever get the chance, you should give it a read.
