Kelly Loving (she/her), Daniel Aston (he/him), Derrick Rump (he/him), Ashley Paugh (she/her), and Raymond Green Vance (he/him) were all tragically murdered on the eve of Transgender Day of Remembrance as our community prepared to mourn those that we had already lost as a result of ongoing anti-trans and anti-Two-Spirit hate. We are saddened, horrified, and outraged that our community continues to be targeted for massacre with inspiration from political rhetoric that amounts to stochastic terrorism. We must continue to resist and pushback against a political discourse that puts the LGBTQ2SIA+ community at risk, including recently here in Eugene in the form of bias crimes against trans people and the targeting of our local drag community. We offer our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who were taken from us in Colorado Springs, and we stand in solidarity with the queer community in Colorado and around the country during this difficult time. Vote, organize, community build, attend public meetings, call your legislators, provide feedback to your local media outlets, run for office, be loud, be proud, and be visible. We must continue to insist on our right to exist, and we need our allies to stand with us and help us create a safer world. We aren’t going anywhere, and this hate will not win. https://instagr.am/p/ClSH0TDvybd/
