im gonna be real it's easier to understand the storytelling in garten of banban if you've played the older euphoric brother's free games before. they have a certain abstract style and it's been that way for a while.

i miss her so bad y'all have no idea
girl heaven
introvert reminds me of my years in middle school and freahman year of high school. befriending a guy who mentally spirals and as he sinks he pulls you by the ankles and forces you to drown with him. you don't have much influence on the outcome as you think you do.
it feels sickly nostalgic to me. some of the humor is still jarring and uncomfortable but thinking about the short story and what could have formed from it makes me sad. i know the brothers likely won't return to that 2d format of games anytime soon.
i can imagine mute feeling a gut-wrenching pang in his chest, feeling like he had failed his friend even though they only knew each other for 5 days. the days felt close. chris looked forward to spending it with mute even if the days were short. mute was awkwardly forced into this friendship, unsure of what to do but still making an effort to follow along.
in old euphoric brothers games there's always this butt ass naked man that just exists and it's my favorite thing
if i found introvert a teenager simulator or human apocalypse when i was younger i probably wouldve thought they were both stupid or boring. tbh. but playing it Now and knowing how scary all of these things feel and watching lupine have a psychosis-riddled drug trip, walking past all the people who care about them and knowing theyre saying Something but none of it processes or sticks in his head.. that hurt. ouughh that hurt.
and then what do you know, a shooting happens at a nearby city and lupine takes his journaling crew with him. but like the way lupine's boss talked about the incident was so disgusting. it makes me sick. "this is a great opportunity for us to succeed," and then once lupine actually talks to denzel and hears the full story, his shit-ass coworkers who were at a fucking bar claimed the work to themselves and all lupine got was a condescending talk about how there's always more opportunities. My god. that is such a fucking disgusting thing to say and the ending was so bittersweet and i hated it but i loved it. it felt so real!! these characters are all real to me!!
that and also knowing that the euphoric brothers are always writing stories with mentally ill characters in them and portraying them uniquely and effectively. these mental illnesses cannot be separated from the character at all, sometimes it's subtle, sometimes it isn't. it's my favorite thing to read about and when i learn more about the psychology behind the characters, i feel more connected to myself and others. it's impactful to interpret games and experiences like this.
