England team celebrating their win after defeating Denmark 2-1
Well, I have to say, of course the fault doesn’t lie with Eriksen, it’s completely commendable and surely well-intentioned that he says “Play on” and of course then none of his teammates will say “We won’t!” But someone from UEFA has to interfere and say “Guys, you need to sleep on this!”. To me it’s absolute madness to continue this game, it’s just not on.
Christoph Kramer on ZDF on reports that it was the players’ wish to continue the game (after talking to Eriksen).

Your name: Penny Foden (short for Penelope)
Context: It's the Euro's 2020, England just lost and Penny's brother Phil is disappointed, but she has to be happy for her boyfriend Jorginho who won and is acting a little too cocky.
1st person POV
I kept my hands folded together, hoping for there to be some sort of miracle and have England win. It was coming home. It had to be, we all thought so. We weren't going to repeat the World Cup again. I took a deep breath as I saw Bukayo Saka approach the ball for his shot. As beautiful of a kick it was, it was saved by Italy's absolutely amazing goalkeeper, Donnarumma.
I let out a sigh as I saw the Italian players mob and jump on each other. My boyfriend immediately caught my eye. I clapped with a smile, he was so happy. I couldn't have been prouder. We made eye contact and I grinned as he blew a kiss in my direction. However, this bliss didn't last long as I remembered my poor younger brother Phil, was heartbroken at the loss. Being in the front row of the stands, I quickly walked over to the security guards to see if I could be let on the field.
"Please! My brother's terribly sad! Oh my days please would you let me in! I'm Penelope Foden! And I'm a nurse! I could give you a complimentary check up if you wanted." I begged.
The security guard rolled his eyes before one of his coworkers came and whispered something to him. His eyes widened and he quickly moved aside to let me in.
I raised an eyebrow, "Why am I being let in now?"
"Well you're Jorginho's girlfriend. Partners of the Italian players are allowed on the field right away." He explained.
I just shrugged my shoulders and took off on the field in the direction of my brother and the England team. Growing up, I was always taught to go embrace the losing team first. It's much more courteous. I shook my head when I saw my little brother with his head in his hands. I immediately embraced him as he put his head onto my shoulder. He tried not to cry.
"It's okay Phil." I whispered to him.
He shook his head adamantly, "We lost Penny. It was supposed to come home. Everyone thought it was coming home. We screwed up!"
I shushed him as he wept a little more.
"Phil, you guys didn't screw up. I can't lie to you and tell you that people aren't going to be mad, because they will be. Yeah, they'll say that you screwed up, but you know you guys didn't. Come back stronger next time. Crying is for losers. It's not going to get you back that trophy Phil." I comforted.
I stayed with Phil for a few more minutes before my parents came and Southgate took Phil into a hug. I figured I should go and see Jorge. I walked towards the other side of the field, giving sympathetic smiles to each player I passed. I eventually stopped when I saw Bukayo Saka ashamed of himself. I immediately enveloped him into a hug and told him how far he'd come at only nineteen. After I departed from him, I ran into Mason Mount who I knew quite well from both my brother and boyfriend.
"Hey Mase!" I greeted with a sad smile.
"Hey Penny." He mumbled silently before hugging me.
"You'll get em next time Mase. Keep your head up, okay?"
"Thanks Pen. You should get over to Jorge now. Give him my congratulations." Mason responded.
I nodded before jogging over.
"Amore mio." I called out.
He grinned as he turned around to see my face. I ran towards him, he picked me up and twirled me around before pressing a kiss to my cheek.
"I'm so proud of you." I admitted.
"That good cuz I'm proud of me too." He smirked.
I rolled my eyes and pecked him on the lips. We let the celebrations consume us and had a blast. Jorge was ecstatic, and as happy as I was, I couldn't help but feel a little melancholy for my brother and the England team. I mean you can't blame me, I'm English. Am I a bad girlfriend for not being totally happy?

Three hours later
Jorge and I had just arrived back at our London apartment after a night full of celebrations with the team. I dropped my bag in front of the door and scurried to our bedroom's bathroom to remove makeup and moisturise. I kept the door open so I could hear Jorge clearly who was walking about our bedroom.
I grabbed a makeup wipe and began cleaning my face.
"Thanks for coming today. It meant a lot." Jorge thanked.
"Well I didn't have much of a choice did I?" I teased.
"I mean you could've spent more time with the Italian side but whatever." He smiled.
I turned around to get a better look at my boyfriend
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I mean what I said." He replied with confusion.
"Y'know Jorge, my brother's team lost. He was heartbroken, I couldn't just abandon them and hang out with the winners. It's common manners to congratulate the losing team first." I hissed.
"Okay and? I'm just saying I would've liked it for you to spend more time with me. I mean I'm apart of the winning team, I deserve your attention more than those England guys." He began to raise his voice.
"Jorge I'm English and I'm close with all these guys! We're all communally sad, especially them! So of course I'm going to stay with them for a little while at first. Don't you dare call yourself more deserving than them. God Jorge, where'd all this damn cockiness come from?" I yelled.
"Oh yeah I'm sure. You seem to be really close with Mount specifically." He mocked with sarcasm.
I was enraged. Where was all of this coming from? Jorge was always a saint. Since when was he so prideful and vain?
"Listen here you asshole. Don't blame me for being a nice person when you're insecure of fucking Mason Mount who's practically my second little brother and your god damn teammate." I screamed.
"I'm not insecure! It's you! If anything it runs in the family. Your little brother dyed his hair blonde just to copy mine!" Jorge defended.
"Bring Phil into this and I swear to god I will screw you over!" I shouted.
"Aww c'mon! It was all over the news! Phil dyed his hair blonde just to spite me and you know it." He retorted.
"I would've never started dating you if I knew you were such a pig." I shook my head.
"I would've never started dating you if I knew how unsupportive you'd be. Your boyfriend just won the fucking Euros and you barely smiled all evening." He groaned.
I bit my lip to keep from lashing out more than I already had. I walked out of our room and straight to the front door where I grabbed my bag and left the apartment. I unlocked my car and got in, sighing.
"Breathe. In and out Penny. In and out Penny." I coached myself.
After a few minutes, I put the key in the ignition and pulled out of the car park. I had no idea where I was going, but all that I knew was I wanted Indian food.
***
Two hours later, I pulled back into my apartment complex's car park. I had spent the last two hours eating Indian food in my car and crying to Phil over FaceTime. I was so thankful for him. He soothed my even though he wasn't in a great state of mind either. I exited the car, locked it and let myself into my apartment. I walked silently, trying to avoid making any noise so I could find out if Jorge was awake or not. After being positive I heard nothing I let out a breath of relief. I changed into a long tee shirt and shorts before climbing into an empty bed. Where was Jorge? I had no idea. I tried to go to sleep but couldn't not knowing where he was. I resolved to just close my eyes and wait till I became sleep deprived.
Luckily, I didn't have to wait long. I soon felt someone climb onto the other side of the bed, pulling the covers over the both of us. It was Jorge. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me close to his chest.
"I'm sorry. I was way out of line. And I was a jerk. A huge one. Could you ever forgive me?" He whispered.
I pondered for a second. He was a pretty big jerk. But I wasn't too kind either. I turned to face him and kissed him on the cheek.
"We'll talk about this tomorrow." I decided.
"I love you Penny." He spoke earnestly.
"I love you too Jorge." I smiled.
The racism Rashford, Sancho and Saka are facing is fucking disgusting. My heart is actually so broken for the boys. Some people are so fucked man, These players don’t deserve any of the shit that people are giving them. Nothing but love and respect to the young kings! 👑❤️(I wish I could hug them🥺)
it’s coming home 🏆⚽️
enjoying the euros? I know I am ;)
thanks again @the-revenge-of-johnny-cash for this one. they know it’s coming home
For those who are not aware, The three young men above are the three that missed the penalties in the final of Euros 2020 and they have had nothing but racist abuse since. I am disgusted with the way the people of my country, including a member of parliament, of course a Conservative (republican), have treated them. These are young men, 23, 19 and 21 and should be nurtured, Marcus has took to task this government over the poverty for children that's increased ten fold and he didn't just sit back he got stuck in and helped a lot! And of course now Billy Bob Boris Johnson is now standing by him but what a hypocrite he is! The letter above was written by Marcus Rashford, left image, replying to all the haters and how eloquent his reply is.
All England fans have left the stadium except Lando and max bc uhh they have to take pictures 🙂✌🏼
Ya can say what ya want, but Sweden knows how to let Spain approach but never score
