Most debated: The results of the UK referendum not only divided the European Union, but also showed a clear divide within the UK itself, sparking controversy all over Twitter.

The Mood: Shocked, sad, angry… such were the reactions in the EU bubble after the results were unveiled.

The Sad: Post-Brexit UK sees a surge in xenophobic and racist outbursts fromBrexiters. Appalling.

The Ugly: But amidst all the doom and gloom, the Twitteratti still raised a smile with theircreative comments.

EU Tweets of the Week: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly – 15 April 2016

Jennifer Baker presents EU Tweets of the Week, looking at the good, the bad and the ugly in the European Union Twittersphere this week:

The Good: Hurrah! A landslide victory for the new EU Data Protection rules agreed on Thursday by a large majority of MEPs!

The Bad: Amateur video shot in Bulgaria shows vigilantes arresting and molesting migrants.

The Ugly: ECR Group Chairman Syed Kamall MEP has gone one step too far in the European Parliament. Is this an hemicycle or a circus?

Most debated: The spotlight is back on the Mediterranean as the EU started to return refugees in Greece to Turkey and Commissioner Avramopoulos formally launched talks for a new EU border management.

The Good: With geoblocking reform on the cards thanks to digi Veep Andrus Ansip, BEUC’s #stopGeoblocking video shows how ridiculous the practice is.

The Bad: Dutch citizens massively rejected the EU-Ukraine association agreement. Another blow for the EU?

The Ugly: The Leave EU campaign wanted to make a point criticising MEPs napping on the job… but they used pictures taken in the Belgian Parliament. #Fail
