Ingo is helping some of the other wardens train their mon at the pearl clan base, and he starts talking bout some future shit like “Hmm.. so your SD stats aren’t that high, but you do have high HP, so we’ll have to EV train your SD levels…”

Cut to Palina who looks at Ingo like he’s an alien, and she just says, “Ingo… what the fuck are you talking about???”

Here’s a little reference I put together for EV training down in Area Zero. It’s easily the most efficient place to train as in either version of the game there’s at least one Pokémon down there that gives +3 EVs for every stat but Special Defense. Fighting one of them while the Pokémon you’re training has the respective power item equipped will give you +11 EVs per fight (with 23 battles needed to max out the stat).

REMEMBER:

auto battles do not provide EVs

you can’t get more than 252 EVs in a single stat now, so if you’re looking to max out two stats you won’t accidentally waste the remaining 6 points.

while there is no Pokémon in Area Zero that gives +3 EVs in Special Defense, Hypno, Umbreon, Altaria, and Floette all give +2 (with 25 battles needed to max out the stat).

Hey all, so I've decided to try something I've never tried in all my years of playing pokemon, which is ev training. I'm trying it out on a Charmander.

My question is, his defence has that red mark, which I presume means it will naturally grow faster? His speed is bad, so should I focus on that? Or should I boost his defence?

My thought was that high defence would be handy, especially if it might help a little against rock attacks. But I dunno if I should go that route. He's a relaxed nature.

I've also bought the power lens and brace, but maybe I should have got the speed one?

Any advice is appreciated!
