SHE WAS TERRIFYING but in a beautiful sort of way. The world didn’t stop when Eva walked, it didn’t stop when she removed her helmet or when she had gotten a scar along her neck from a piece of shrapnel. But it came very close when she got drunk and kissed Floyd Talbert. Of course, Eva wasn’t somebody who was going to tell you things would be okay, or hug you and whisper you reminders that life would be alright. But when she got drunk, it was an event and it seemed like her affectionate alter ego came out.
Glass after glass, a bubbly sensation would built up at the base of her throat and she would loudly laugh at any joke uttered. And very soon, she pissed off soliders as she clumsily stood up and sauntered her way next to the first clear face she could see. Her vision growing blurry, and her eyes were hazy as if she had just smoked marijuana. Floyd Talbert couldn’t help the humongous smirk that took over his face.
“I should call you Speirs. You’re quite a good theif, you managed to steal my heart” Eva croaked out and looked up at her friend staring blankly at her. With a small, mischievous, grin setting on her face and the feeling of nothing to lose mixing with the adrenaline of the alcohol running throughout her veins, she leaned closer to Talbert over the table. Resting her chin on her fist and studying his facial expressions.
“You’re a disaster, Morris. What is this? First date flirting?” Floyd rolled his eyes and leaned in closed to the table. Taking notice in her freckles as they scrunched up, turning into almost lines with her nose was wrinkled, and the small snort that came out of her nose. “It absolutely is”
Floyd held a mock hurt face but loudly laughed “Then why didn’t you tell me? I love you!” Eva blinked once, and then twice. Trying to make sure she heard the words correctly. Once processing them, she rolled her eyes and took a sip out of the beer sitting next to her.
“You know, Morris” Talbert began, leaning his right side of his face onto his palm “If you keep ignoring your feelings like this, you will eventually break down” he stated in a very matter-of-fact manner. Ignoring all signs of lovesick puppy, and hiding his own feelings in a box. Ironic. Eva leaned in to kiss his jaw, her touch lingering for a split second.
“How unfortunate”
