I've seen a lot of content on tumblr talking about Eva's character in Witcher s3 and tagging this as w/w, saphic etc. And I wanted to share my thoughts on this.
I mainly follow the show, I dont play the games and I've read a few books but haven't come across Eva yet, so I wasnt familiar with this character before season 3.
For me, knowing Cal is queer, They/them/he, trans nonbinary, I was like omg amazing! Representation in the fantasy genre for canon trans nonbinary people brilliant etc etc
So when I started looking for tumblr content, I was suprised at the tags. The only thing I can see is that the character may be female and lesbian in the books/games, but their gender or orientation is not mentioned in the Netflix adaptation.
I am absolutely happy for someone to correct me here and say; no Lauren has said this is the characters gender/orientation etc, and that I might be wrong! But if you watch this interview, they say it's great to be able to represent others who feel similar as theyre trans nonbinary.
So I thought I'd bring this interview to light, that as far as I'm aware, this character is nonbinary, trans, they/them/he.
Trans actors and trans rep is so rare in media, that I think it's important to make sure that this representation is heard. So often fandoms are left to create this representation, and we have it right here for a change :)!
