Facsimile Machine Opening: Sept 15, 5PM Finnisage: Nov 6, 4PM Photography students from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie present work based on their workshop with artist Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky. Central to this presentation is the complex relationship between art and the representation of nature. After the students have visited the rich library of Amsterdam's Artis zoo, the postulation of the zoo's Latin motto ‘Natura Artis Magistra’, or ‘nature is the teacher of art and science’, is explored through their work. Eight Cubic Meters is Rietveld's permanent street gallery in the Sint Nicolaasstraat in the city centre of Amsterdam. Eight boxes, sixteen windows, open 24/7, 365.25 days a year. Every eight weeks a new show is on by Gerrit Rietveld Academie students and alumni.
