BETTY’S DINER, KINGSTON — “Are you seriously ordering all of that for yourself or are you planning on sharing?” Knowing that Eva had a few older brothers didn’t make it any easier for him to accept just how much she could eat in a sitting, or maybe her eyes were always bigger than her stomach. But Matt was impressed. He’d known the now lawyer since forever, since they were kids. Eva had even been his first girlfriend, well she was the first of many things for him, and he was grateful to still have some sort of relationship with her now.
“I’m not judging, I promise. I’m just always impressed.” It was kind of nice to get away from Sully’s for a while and have a burger elsewhere, plus he had errands to run for Grandma Aileen as soon as he and Eva had their fill. “How’s that stunt work been going lately?” An amused smile appeared. “I haven’t seen you around looking all beat up. You still doing that?” Unfortunately, it’d been a while since they’d caught up. As a matter of fact, Matt had felt like that with many people lately. And he was sure everyone was tired of hearing the work excuse so he stopped offering one.
