Dull Colours | Eva & Rachel [Flashback]
It was a necessary evil for Rachel to attend the ridiculous parties that the capitol would host every once in a while. Her stylists would come and deface her by strapping the most ridiculous clothing onto her body and doing things with her hair that she would never have done with them. She hated it more than anything. Why was it so hard for everyone to believe that she was able to dress and style herself on her own? Or couldn’t they at least be sparser with the glitter and colours? Nevertheless, she didn’t complain knowing by now that there was no way out of it. Instead she was even looking forward to seeing some of the other victors again who she had grown familiar and even friendly with much to her own surprise.
She had been lounging on the couch in the big room for a while already, only disturbed a few more times than she could bear instead of being plagued by curious people all the time, when she noticed a familiar face among the crowd. She almost hadn’t recognised the previous tribute among the colours of the room. Quickly she got to her feet only to get them all tangled up in the hem of her dress. A silent curse left her as she hurriedly untangled herself and strode across the room, this time more careful. “Eva!”, she exclaimed with a smile and threw her arms around the woman. One of the good things about such a painfully cheerful environment was that no one looked at you twice if you reacted overly emotional to seeing someone.
