Tulsa's Fitzpatrick named Howies Hockey Tape ECHL Rookie of the Month

Tulsa Oilers’ goaltender Evan Fitzpatrick is the Howies Hockey Tape ECHL Rookie of the Month for November.

The 20-year-old appeared in eight games in November, going 6-0-1 with a 2.10 goals-against average and a save percentage of .923. He allowed two goals or less in five of his seven starts and made at least 23 saves in six of his seven starts. Fitzpatrick ended the month with six consecutive wins.

A second-round selection (59th overall) of the St. Louis Blues in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Fitzpatrick is 7-1-2 in 11 appearances with the Oilers with a 2.44 goals-against average and a save percentage of .910.

This One Time, At Blues Camp: Part 2, Defensemen and Goalies

(The Blues’ Prospect Camp has come and gone, and for three out of four days, I enjoyed my time at Ice Zone in Hazelwood, MO. Here is my quick scouting report on the Blues’ prospective defensemen and goalies. We all have cause to rejoice: our future is bright.

Memorial Cup: What we learned

The St. Louis Blues have a mixed bag of luck when it comes to karting during their careers. While the bright NHL lights are still many years old, Evan Fitzpatrick is ready to take off.

When St. Louis Blues was developed by Evan Fitzpatrick, he shrugged many fans and groaned from others. There was nothing wrong with the player itself, but more in the philosophy of Blues.

There are several NFL teams that are always late with a delay to see if anyone will ever click. It seems that the Blues are doing it with the goalkeepers.

When Fitzpatrick was developed, Blues already had Jake Allen. They were just about to sign Carter Hutton. St. Louis also had Ville Husso and Luke Opilka spread in ranks. The most important thing was that the line was quite long before Fitzpatrick.

During the first recruitment camp at St. Louis Mills could be said that Fitzpatrick had the least experience. There was talent, but he looked scared. It was not sharp, and the movements were sloppy. He allowed for a few soft goals that came down to the nerves.

Much of this remained in his game during his next junior season. In Sherbrooke Phoenix his number was terrible this season. Immediately after he was prepared, he posted a 3.46 goal compared to the average and a saving of 8,899 while his team left the playoff.

In 2017-18, the situation has not improved. In 25 games with Sherbrooke, it was 3.48 and .874. However, life gave Fitzpatrick relief. He was sold to Acadie-Bathurst, and his younger career took on a direct character.

He helped Titan to win the QMJHL championship and place in the Memorial Cup. While some analysts had Acadie-Bathurst as the weaker player in this tournament, Titan continued to fight Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick defeated 3-1 during the short tournament and only allowed 12 goals, six of which were in one high octane round in the round-rein round with Regina.

However, the prospect of joining Blues was not to be denied that night. He rejected 28 shots, winning and the first-ever cup in the history of Acadie-Bathurst.

Showing wisdom beyond his years, Fitzpatrick was happier for the team than personal praise.

"When you look back, no one will really understand that it was a 3-0 win," said CBC after the victory. "That Titan won the Memorial Cup."

But it was not just about the band. Although Titan dominated in the first two periods, Regina and their captain, Sam Steel, had a huge push in the third period.

The steel was almost tied after Fitzpatrick had initially stopped shooting, but he had a big reflection. Fitzpatrick pushed hard, back through the fold, and stoned Steel to keep it off at this point.

Who knows if or when, Fitzpatrick always fits the Blue Note seriously. We will have more glances at him in the upcoming recruits and preseasons camps. However, developing a winning culture at an early age is never a bad thing.

In particular, goalkeepers are strange creatures. If you can learn how to go through difficult playoffs and tournaments and get victorious at an early age, it definitely helps on the mental side.

If nothing else, it's always good to see players connected to the organization. Perhaps they have never fully developed into NHL players, but it gives you some praise at other levels.

Blues prospects Thomas, Fitzpatrick are league champions

The Blues of St. Louis always looks to the future. The future may have just learned how to win a big one that may come in handy in the future. I had conversations with my colleague. The bottom line is that St. Louis Blues always looks to the future. How goes the line in Spaceballs, when will it be now?

As for the big club, it does not say anything. Some people have been waiting for a full 50-plus seasons. Others experienced less time waiting, but no less excruciating.

One of the big problems Blues seem to have is that they do not have enough winners on their list at any time. Sometimes you need those guys who went through the battles.

It's unrealistic to think that any rookie can be that person. Nevertheless, the victory in the winnings of the breed and the "Blues" only two of their prospects studied valuable lessons in the win.

Robert Thomas and Ewan Fitzpatrick both won the respective leagues in Canadian youth hockey. Thomas took the OHL crown, and Fitzpatrick led his team in QMJHL.

Another thing is that both players learned that the transition to new teams can be good. Both of them traded and found themselves in better situations.

Fitzpatrick, in particular, languished with Sherbrooke. He bargained with Titan Akadi-Bathurst and flourished in one of the best goalkeepers of the Quebec league.

His goals were invariably in the high 3's with the Serbrook, and his percentage of preservation was always below 0.900. After the end of the year with Acadie-Bathurst, his statistics with Titan was 2.24 and 9.15. He became even better in the playoffs.

Fitzpatrick started all 20 games for Titan. He missed 18-4 for this site with goals against 2.10 and save 0.925.

On the way to the title Fitzpatrick also took revenge. His team just knocked Sherbrooke out of the playoffs, giving it something else in a special year.

He was also solid in the clinch-game. Acadie-Bathurst won the title with a score of 2: 1 in Game 6.

Thomas also raised the victory. He did an excellent job with the London knights, but he bargained until the deadline for Hamilton's bulldogs. It turned out to be the best.

He became big in the playoffs. Thomas scored 12 goals and 32 points in the playoffs alone. According to Jim Thomas of the Post-Dispatch, he also won the Wayne Gretzky 99 prize for the MVP playoffs.

The championship game was a little more saturated, but as close as Fitzpatrick. Hamilton won his own game 6 in the final 5-4. Thomas had a goal and help in the fight.

The time for celebration will be brief for both. They will be absorbed in the victory, and then prepare for the Cup of Memory, which will be held from May 17 to 27, and this is a tournament with the winners of each provincial league and the home team.
