oh i would NEVER let him go.
From their first debate, as freshmen congressmen attending a field hearing of the House Education and Labor Committee in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, in 1947, [Richard] Nixon and [John F.] Kennedy seemed bound together in a drama of personal and national destiny. They recognized in each other shyness and profound ambition, a kinship of generational politics, a fascination with America's global role. They might have remained friendly, if not quite friendly, had not fate -- and its human instruments, jealousy and pride -- pitted them against each other.
One afternoon in the winter of 1950, when Nixon was working in his congressional office on Capitol Hill, preparing for his race for the Senate against Helen Gahagan Douglas, his secretary let him know that he had a visitor. It was the congressman down the hall, Jack Kennedy. Young Kennedy pulled an envelope out of his breast pocket and handed it to Nixon. "Dick, I know you're in for a pretty rough campaign," said Kennedy, "and my father wanted to help out." Inside the envelope was a check for $1,000 (almost $10,000 in 2015 dollars). Nixon might have seen this offering from the multi-millionaire patriarch as mildly condescending, but he needed the cash, and he was grateful.
The two saw each other fairly often during their years on the Hill. As senators, their offices were across the hall from each other. In 1953, Kennedy invited [then-Vice President] Nixon (along with hundreds of political figures) to his wedding to Jacqueline Bouvier; Nixon had to decline in order to play golf with his boss, President Eisenhower. In 1954, when Kennedy was gravely ill after near-fatal back surgery at New York's Hospital for Special Surgery, Nixon went to see him and emerged in tears, according to his Secret Service escort Rex Scouten. "Oh God, don't let him die," Nixon choked. Nixon's tearful prayer may seem extreme -- the two men were not that close -- but Kennedy seems to have touched some chord of fellow-feeling in Nixon.
-- Evan Thomas, on the remarkable relationship between Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy, opponents in the 1960 Presidential election but surprisingly friendly associates early in their political careers, in the 2015 book Being Nixon: A Man Divided (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO).
i love liking stuff that’s very hated on. i love hazbin hotel, helluva boss, and tx2. i do Not care about the haters and when you actually do your research you realise the haters dont even have a real reason to hate so much and that they’re just extremely dramatic and stupid
also i really need to clarify this so people dont misunderstand,, when i say haters im referring to the disrespectful people who insult and threaten the fans just because they like the thing. not the people who just mind their business and leave the fans alone. the people who are actually respectful are very cool and do not count as THOSE haters
evan thomas is one of the best singers ever i love him and tx2 all the hater's can just drink that haterorade 🖤❤️🤘 and he can where whatever he wants hes hot 🥵🔥
