Dear Evan Hansen Evan's Dad Headcanons

-Evan's dad wasn't exactly the nicest guy before the divorce. He wasn't physically abusive but he didn't care if Heidi knew he was cheating on her or not.

-As a kid Evan had really bad asthma and attachment issues that both his parents knew about but his dad just saw as annoying.

-Heidi saw how her husband tried ignoring Evan and confronted him about it. They fought and a few days later she was filling for a divorce.

-He didn't care, ready to fall back on the cocktail waitress he was seeing at the time

-the relationship obviously didn't last long and he spent a few years bouncing from house to house

-Evan looks almost exactly like his mom except for his bright blue eyes, those came from his dad.

-his dad came to visit them a few times to try and beg Heidi for money but she threatened to call the police the last time this happened

-Jared knows about Evan's dad but that doesn't stop him from making jokes about it all the time.

-he likes Larry a lot, he's the dad figure he always wanted in life. He wants to bond with his son, play baseball and care for his wife...

-everything he couldn't actually have

-the truth comes out and he's able to move past Larry as a father figure, he doesn't need a dad or a perfect life. What he has is fine.
