Can you imagine if Eve and Hopper had crossed paths when they were younger?? Considering that both were homeless runaways at around the same time, both with dubious mental states (and depending on the universe, a highly visible mutant appearance that added on more troubles).
Eve Hallows. Very shy and timid, has a passion for engineering and art. Has DID and an alter named Hollow, who's a bit of a dick and possibly a furry.
I'm going to go with Ellie Winward who is an engineer so they'll have that in common. However Ellie is very outspoken and talks a lot so she'll just use Eve as the unfortunate quiet friend who is forced to listen to the talkative friend ramble. She also adapts to new things very quickly so she'll be able to handle Hollow being a dick
Gwenverse!Eve's Hobgoblin suit definitely takes inspiration from that one Spiderman show where Harry Osborn is the Hobgoblin. The high-tech design suits her, although there will be a few original touches thrown in to achieve the Batshit Goblin aesthetic
So there's a scene/arc in Spider-Man where a reporter interviews people close to Peter Parker to figure out if Parker is Spiderman because Venom spilled the beans. I did Eve's version of the interview way back before I redesigned her, so I wanted to do it again.
"So, you've spent some time with Peter Parker, correct?"
Eve shifted in her seat, keeping her gaze down nervously at her shoes.
"I work at the university where he interns for the Connors." She nodded. Lee leant forward, holding the microphone closer.
"Do you think there's any chance that Parker could be Spider-Man?"
Eve lifted her head, staring at Lee in shock. Then she averted her gaze again.
"No..." She shook her head, clenching her hands in her lap, "Spiderman's helped- I mean..." She stumbled for a minute, holding a hand over her mouth, before she exhaled to calm herself and lowered her hand.
"Peter isn't that selfless. He's made bad choices and, um, no, I don't think he could be Spider-Man. They're too different."
Summary: Just a morning with Eve and her roommate
Author’s Note: This probably isn’t that exciting ngl. The prompt was “Coffee is the only reason I’m alive right now.” and I immediately knew who to write about
Jin stumbled through the apartment into the kitchen, still a little groggy with his fluffy hair an unattended mess. To his surprise there was already someone propped against the cabinets, steaming mug in her hands.
“Who’s up?” Jin asked. Her eyes flicked up in something that wasn’t quite a glare but sufficiently tired to make it close enough.
“She’d rather die than be awake right now.” Eve deadpanned. Jin nodded, going to the fridge.
“Morning Eve.” His head was momentarily hidden when he opened the fridge and pawed through it, “So what time did you finally go to bed last night?”
“I didn’t.” She paused to take a large gulp from her mug, “Coffee is the only reason I’m alive right now.” Jin snorted, mostly in disbelief, and pulled away from the fridge with a bottle of juice.
“What the hell were you doing all night?”
Eve held the mug up to cover half of her face, looking embarrassed now.
“Projects.” She managed.
“How many?” Jin sighed, knowing it was useless and unwise to try and tell her off and better just to skip ahead. Eve hesitated, suddenly very interested in her shoes. The mug was still obstructing her face.
“…Four.” She finally muttered. He made a show of holding a hand around his ear and leaning over dangerously far towards her.
“What was that? I couldn’t quite hear.” He said with a faint smile.
“Maybe five.” Eve conceded.
“That’s my girl.” Jin nodded firmly. Eve shook her head and stepped aside so that he could retrieve a glass from the cabinets.
“Were all of them yours?”
“I think Hollow was more interested in the case of the missing batteries.” She closed her eyes for a second before looking away from him, speaking as if there were a third person in the room, “Don’t. There are buttons on the tv, use those.” Side-stepping their minor argument, Jin re-screwed the lid onto the juice bottle and shimmied his shoulders.
“Ooo, a joke from Miss Hallows. And when she’s this tired, no doubt.” He gave that faint smile again as he sipped from his glass. Eve looked at him and grimaced.
“Was it bad?”
“For you it was alright.”
The corners of Eve’s mouth turned up, which for her was like the equivalent of a big grin. Jin turned around to lean back against the cabinets, and he held the glass towards Eve in invitation. Eve shook her head wordlessly and drank her coffee. He pulled the glass back.
Right. It was Hollow who sometimes wanted a sip.
“You should try and get some sleep. Maybe take a nap or something while I run out and grab the new toaster, yeah?”
“Right, the,” Eve paused and pinched the bridge of her nose, “The white one, two slices?”
“Actually Hollow and I thought that the one with four slices might be better, y’know, the metallic red one.” He pointed as he spoke, initially swallowing another gulp of juice, “It’s basically the same price and we only have to do the one, um…y’know the one lot of toast. Because there’s only two of us.”
“Oh.” Eve blinked, “Okay.”
“Is that alright?” He asked slowly. Eve was quiet for a second before murmuring something and nodding. He lowered the glass and raised both eyebrows, fixing her with the look.
“She just didn’t tell me.” Eve shrugged.
“Ah.” He disarmed the look. With Eve it usually took a bit of prodding to get her to admit to what was bothering her, but sometimes it was hard to tell whether something was actually bothering her at all. He had a bad habit of overthinking things.
“So does that sound like a plan?” He looped back to the matter at hand and downed the rest of his juice while he waited for an answer. He resisted the urge to stop her when she started to refill her mug.
“Okay.”
“Okay?” Jin repeated, and when Eve nodded he put his glass down on top of the cabinets, “Okay then. I’ll jump through a shower and then go replace the toaster. You go get some sleep.” He hugged her, a quick friendly squeeze, before jogging out of the kitchen again. Eve followed behind, still clutching her mug.
“Buy batteries too.” He heard her say as she went towards her bedroom.
