Gown @ Miss USA by Joey Galon, ATELIER. Miss Alaska USA, Alyssa London hired me to design her competition Miss USA gown. After the original concept had been established and approved as well as fabric purchased, she then added asking me if I can represent her Tlingit Native American tribe into the gown. After already purchasing the fabric and having an original concept in my mind, I then researched her tribe and noticed the various blankets adorned on tribal members. I asked her about this symbolism. After much research, I proposed to create this traditional tribal robe, transforming it into the train of the gown and used as a reveal showcasing her gown underneath. I suggested to her having original Tlingit artwork drawn on the outside of the robe, after which I would decorate and adorn. She knew the perfect renown artist that could do the work. I shipped the area of fabric for @prestonsingletarystudio to draw onto which he drew traditional killer whales. He then shipped back to me that portion of fabric and I adorned and added to the gown.
