Evening Prayers - 2nd August 2014

Dear Father in Heaven,

Thank You for this time of prayer. Thank You even more for all the sisters and brothers who have decided to put time aside to pray with me. 

Yesterday was International Girlfriends' Day! But you already know that. Days like these remind me of important things in life. I am a girlfriend, and so are many of my sisters out there. In our lives we all strive to find a life partner, someone to share our lives and to walk with us as we trace Your Hand. 

This reminded me of the story of Hosea and Gomer. Although Gomer left Hosea and her children to pursue her own ambitions, the love of Hosea brought her back. He searched for her even after so many years and used all he had to buy her from the marketplace. 

Help us to also have patience and unceasing love for our partners - to be understanding and long-suffering when treating each other. And to persevere especially during the difficult times. 

We also give You thanks for that love You gave and sacrifice You made to buy us from the grasps of eternal death. Even though we abandoned our First Love, You searched for us and bought us back with everything You had - Jesus Christ. 

Thank You again,dearest Father.Today we are reminded of that Great Love. Now as it has been given to us, let us go forth and share it with the world, starting with our partners.

Evening Prayers - 1 August 2014

Dear Father,

Today marks the first day of a new month. Thank You Lord for the month past and now, thank You that we get to see another one. Each breathe is precious and each moment, a gift. So is each brother and sister praying with me today. 

What more important is knowledge in our daily lives? Knowledge enables us to work and function. Everyday, people go to school, go to work and travel just to learn more. In Chronicles, King Solomon chooses knowledge and wisdom, over wealth and a long life, to govern Your people. "Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, “

Today dear Father, we ask for the same thing - not only for knowledge, but also for the wisdom and discernment to use it appropriately. As we start out our new month, we humbly ask that You prepare our minds to receive new knowledge and teach us new things, expand the horizons of our minds - Give us a thirst to know more and then the discipline to use the knowledge properly. 

We may not be kings or think we are in positions of high importance, we might not be as young as we were. But as we start now and become wiser, new mountains will rise for us to climb and new horizons for us to reach. Walk with us, Lord, that we might excel in whichever positions we hold. For Your Glory.

Evening Prayers - 31 July 2014

Dear Lord,

Tomorrow marks the start of a new month. Thank You Father, for being with us this past month and for these time of prayer. As I join my brothers and sisters in reflection about our past month, Father, help us to surrender our trophies and failures into Your Hands and just give You praise for our past that they will become stepping stones for our future.

Today I contemplated the meaning of being 'enough', because it seems in everything I do these days doesn't seem to be enough. It made me feel inadequate and disposable. Sometimes I don't see what use You could probably have for me... 

Thank You Father for the story of how Jesus healed the blind man in John 9. Jesus used mud to heal the man. How ordinary is mud... how despised even, and yet You could use it for a miracle? It reminded me that it is not by my own actions that I am saved, but through Your Grace. Similarly, I should not fret over what I can and cannot do. I am enough - Useful enough when empowered by You. 

In our times of weakness and doubt, help us to run back to Your Word and find new Strength and Comfort in Your Perfect Love. Help us to see the worth in ourselves and set out with confidence, not only in ourselves, but even more so in Our Lord who strengthens us. 

Amen. 

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?... But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself." - Matthew 6:26,33

Evening Prayers - 30 July 2014

Dear Loving Father,

May Your Name be praised on high. May Your Name resound in the celebrations of our victories, and pulsate deeply in our minds as we trudge through the failures. Thank You Father for each and every brother and sister that has decided to join us in prayer today. 

Today I was weak, Lord. I let demoralizing thoughts take over my mind and it broke me, Lord. And as I was on my knees, I could only think of running home and curling up in bed. That was my idea of seeking refuge. 

Psalms 23 says, "You are My Shepherd, I shall not want... even as I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me, and Your Staff and Rod they comfort me."

Father help us this day to seek comfort in You. Today we would like to put ourselves and the people we love into Your Hands and we surrender, Lord. Hoping that in our weakness in future, we would choose to run to You and not our beds. Help us to surrender our pain to You and praise You through the rain. Let the knowledge that Your Perfect Love drives out fear be our strength each and every day. 

We love You Lord, and continue to seek Your Face through prayer. All praise and glory be unto Thee O Lord.
