He's at Steve's side in a moment and doesn't bother to give any warning before he dramatically falls into Steve's lap. Steve just barely manages to save his book from getting squashed.

"What is it?" Steve asks, matching Bucky's dramatic tone. "What am I not going to believe?"

"I just got off the phone with Natasha," he starts. "She cancelled on me!" Bucky throws his arms up, nearly smacking Steve in the face in the process.

Steve carefully places his hand on Bucky's forearm and lowers it away from his face.

"You're kidding," he says, a frown curving onto his lips at the news.

"I wish I was," he sighs. Bucky presses his lips together into a disappointed line and deflates against the back of the couch, slinking down Steve's thighs a little. "Who goes to Coney Island alone? How pathetic is that?"

Steve snorts, earning a glare from Bucky, and pats Bucky's thigh. "Aw, don't be such a sourpuss, Buck," he says. "Who said anything about going alone?"

A Kiss To Build A Dream On

“Hi, Buck. How was your date?” Steve asks almost absentmindedly. He doesn’t look up from his drawing, instead continues to drag the point of his pencil across the page in a broad, scratching stroke. The tip of his tongue pokes out of the corner of his lips.

Bucky blows out a breath that turns into a laugh. He leans his elbow against the railing and shakes his head. “Not very good,” he answers.

That gets Steve to look up. A frown curves onto his lips and his eyebrows pull together. “That bad? How come?” He wonders.

Because I couldn’t stop talking about you, Bucky’s brain supplies. Because when I walked Beverly Bryant to her front door and tried to kiss her goodnight she held up her hand and told me it wouldn’t feel right kissin’ me when I so clearly had someone waitin’ for me at home.

Against All Odds

ENDGAME SPOILERS AHEAD

“I’m not sure what comes next,” Steve says. He presses his lips together and he almost looks frustrated with that crinkle between his eyebrows. “I’ve been doing this for a hell of a long time now, Buck, and this is the closest we’ve gotten to… to peace. Or at least some form of it.” Steve shakes his head. “I mean, for the first time, I look at everything that’s happened and I look at how it all ended and I don’t see another immediate threat. The future looks… it looks clear.” He sounds surprised, like he doesn’t quite believe the words coming out of his mouth.

“Maybe it’s time to settle down then,” Bucky suggests. He couldn’t bring himself to finish the sentence the way he would have liked to. With me.

A little chuckle falls from Steve’s mouth, and there’s an almost bittersweet smile there. “That’s what everyone else seemed to think, too,” he tells Bucky. “Tony…” a flash of pain flickers across Steve’s face as he says his name, “he always was telling me I needed to get a life. Natasha too.” His jaw clenches briefly, before he takes in a deep breath and collects himself. “I think… I think I need to honor their request. I’ve been trying to figure out how to do that.”

I finally finished my endgame fix-it!! Woo!! This took me way too long to write haha, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out!! Hope you guys enjoy my take on how Steve’s ending should have gone!!

Let Me Know Your Future Plans

At the tender age of twenty, amidst a bottle of peach schnapps, fresh breakups, and the lingering fear of perpetual loneliness, best friends Steve and Bucky make a promise that if they’re unmarried and still single by the time they’re both thirty then they’ll marry each other.

Fast forward ten years to Steve’s thirtieth birthday. Since Bucky joined the military and shipped out communication between the two has been sparse, and their promise is the last thing on Steve’s mind as he celebrates the big three-oh. That is, until Bucky makes an impromptu return and cashes in on that very promise with a proposal.

Planning a wedding isn’t as easy as it looks, especially on a time crunch, with a limited budget, and oh yeah, when Steve’s childhood feelings for his friend start clawing their way back to the surface throughout the endeavor.

Hi everyone!! My stucky au big bang fic is FINALLY here!!! I’m so so excited to share it with you all!! I’ve been working on this puppy for months and I’m thrilled to finally put it out there!! It’s been a journey, but it’s been such a great experience!

Put Your Number In My Phone

Steve tucks his phone back into his pocket and turns back to the computer. He only has to click a few times before he finds the link to the questionnaire and opens it, inputting the participant number before hitting next. The beginnings of the consent form fills the page, and all Steve has left to do now is wait for the participant— one James Barnes, according to the website— to show up.

Thankfully, Steve doesn’t end up having to wait very long. James Barnes shows up ten minutes early and knocks on the door before cracking it open and peeking in.

“Oh, hi,” he says, when he spots Steve sitting at the desk. He pushes the door open all the way and steps into the room just as Steve spins in the chair to face him.

“Um, I’m, uh, a bit early, but I’m here for the decision making study,” James continues, clear blue eyes flickering around the room before landing on Steve again. The skin between his eye

Count On Me Like One, Two, Three

Square Filled: U2 Rating: General Warnings: None Summary: “I also need to get one of those scooter things,” Bucky adds. “That’s gotta be better than these damn crutches.”

Steve’s eyes drop down to the crutches again, and he frowns. “Crutches are never comfortable,” he agrees, shaking his head. “You want a piggyback ride?” He asks, grinning as he laughs at his own joke.

Bucky ducks his head and laughs along, a good-natured smile settling over his lips. “Yeah, that would be real nice, wouldn’t it?” He says, not thinking anything of it.

When he looks back up, however, Steve’s already in the process of shrugging his backpack off of his shoulders. The smile melts off of Bucky’s face and his brows furrow together. Was that… a serious offer?

When You're Standin' Oh So Near (I Kinda Lose My Mind)

Steve. His name is Steve. Beautiful, kind, Steve. He’s Bucky’s god damn walking wet dream, is what he is.

And so is his car. A candy apple red ‘67 Pontiac GTO; a real beauty of a car, sleek and shiny despite the fact that Steve’s clearly about to give it a wash if the bucket and sponge he has out are anything to go off of. Bucky’s always had a bit of a thing for old cars; loves the way they look, the way they drive, and the fact that Steve’s the proud owner of this gorgeous thing only makes him that much more insanely attractive in Bucky’s eyes.

When Bucky throws his front door open, he’s met with the oh so delicious sight of Steve bent straight over as he dunks his sponge into the bucket of soap and water next to his car. A strangled sort of noise slips from Bucky’s throat, and he nearly swallows his tongue. He knows he’s being creepy, he knows, and he’s very aware that the chances of getting caught ogling his neighbor have just doubled, but he can’t tear his eyes away no matter how hard he tries. Steve’s gorgeous.
