jessica was happy to have the night off so that she could really go out and enjoy herself. of course, she would’ve liked maxine to be by her side or one of the very few friends she’d managed to make but a lot of the people she knew were working the carnival and so she was kind of forced to walk around alone. the girl made her way up to the shooter game, a smile resting on her lips as she saw maxine running things. she stopped in front of her, clasping her hands in front of her and tilting her head to one side. “so, are you going to win me something? i kind of have my eyes on that stuffed penguin over there.”

It was her fault that she came to this stupid event –– she should have known that she was going to find herself in a less than appealing situation. As soon as the fire started, everyone scattered in a panic. It was like they were roaches being hit with a flashlight. But Emmy herself couldn’t outrun the stampede of frantic civilians. As people pushed her down and got the hell out of dodge, she felt a blinding pain coming from her leg. She did her best to keep her head down as people kept running over her, people hitting her torso, stepping on her knee, not caring that she was stranded on the dirt floor. As the fire spread, the structure of the tent started to collapse, suddenly a heave steal beam came falling down, trapping her legs underneath it. A heavy scream left her lips, the pain trapping her right where she sat but with fog clouding the tent, she knew she had to do something and it was evident that no one was going to help –– no matter the pleas. Emmy did her best to push the beam off her leg, ignoring the aching pain that rushed through her body, just waiting on someone to help her.

“--what’re you waiting for? the ride’s about to start, hop on.” she encouraged the other with a smile on her face. they were alone though and she figured that was the problem. “if you’re that worried about riding alone, i don’t mind riding with you. my partner here can control the thing.” she nodded toward the other and then looked back at them, “unless you’re already waiting for someone?” she asked.

jess was making her way through the carnival when she spotted the familiar man. “oh shit.” she cursed and turned on her heels to head the opposite way, hoping to god that he didn’t spot her but there was no such luck. he’d seen her and she could hear him coming up behind her. right when things were starting to feel normal with axel and just life in general, and here mal was to ruin that. she turned in her heels and crossed her arms over her chest, “what the hell are you doing here?”

christian held his hand out for kitty as he climbed off of the ferris wheel and smiled back at her. he was surprised he’d managed to talk her into joining him and he hoped the two of them ended up having fun. he knew he already was, “come on, then. it’s about time i win ya somethin’ you have to take home and remember me by. i know, i know. you’re thrilled but just calm down and watch me work.” he was obviously messing with her. kitty had a good poker face and he could never really tell how she was feeling but she was one of the only people that he managed to smile around, and he was excited to see how tonight would go.

Perking up when he mentioned hanging out another time, Madeline nodded her head eagerly. Probably a little too eagerly. “I-I would love th-that,” she admitted and rubbed the back of her neck in a sheepish manner. “It w-would be nice to hangout with you some more. Until next t-t-time then?”

Hearing Maddie agree to them hanging out again obviously made Oliver grin like an idiot. Excitedly nodding his head, he then pulled her in for a quick hug without much thought. As he pulled away, a bashful grin appeared on his face before he slowly began to walk backwards. “Yes, until next time. I hope you can manage to fit me into your busy model schedule soon!” he said, chuckling before giving her a small wave. “See ya, Mads.”

Just when Madeline was about tor retort back, his phone vibrated, making her shut her mouth. Frowning when he mentioned that he needed to go because his roommate wanted to go, Madeline couldn’t help but internally curse at his roommate. She was enjoying herself and wanted to spend more time with Oliver. “O-okay,” she said, forcing out a cheery voice. “Thank y-y-you for keeping me company even th-th-though I distracted you from taking your pictures.”

As much as Oliver loved Kara, he was enjoying his time with Madeline and kinda hoped he could have spent more time with her, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t spend more time with her later. “Hey, it was the best distraction I could have had. Besides, I took more than enough pictures anyway,” he assured her with a friendly smile. “Thank you for going on the Ferris Wheel with me. I had a really great time even if it was cut short, but maybe this could mean we hang out some other time to make up for it,” Oliver suggested, hoping she’d agree.

“It’s b-because you had to be so p-poor! Wh-why couldn’t you have a richer family?” Laughing when he started to laugh, Madeline broke out into a wide grin, enjoying Oliver’s company. “I-It’s not my fault sh-she stole your letters. I d-didn’t want her too! W-would you rather I stay single for th-the rest of my life?”

“Yes,” he answered with a straight face, stopping before he broke into a laugh and continued his walk. “If you truly loved me you would have waited for me,” he then pointed out before feeling his phone vibrate in his pocket. Grabbing it, he read over his message from Kara. “I’m so sorry, but I have to get going. My roommate is texting me that she’s ready to go home and she’s kinda my ride.”
