There was nothing special about this season that money could have given way too with the princess and her declaration that everyone could be included in this season. Common folk were brazen enough to try which meant for a congested presentation room outside of the nobility. Money had bought him a position closer than most but on the way out he was subject to walk with the people below his untitled rank.

“Watch where you walk!” comes out of his mouth in angered annoyance feeling someone shove past him. Someone who was clearly not in the same category as he. In the past there would be a respect for those of the working class but as a rich merchant he knew there was a way to act when something like this happened and it was never favourable.

At first there was a big concern that this new situation would hinder plans made but it helped the secret former pirate blend in with the other rich people from the one that knew of his face. It was simple enough to stay hidden but alert at the people around him. One being a singer that whose performance had been noted with praise despite not being the lead.

“Miss Hemingway, is it?” Politely asked with a curt bow for respect that every gentleman had done to all of the night. It was a practised move he had perfected in study for this night. “You do not know me but I saw you perform a few nights ago and found you most talented. Are you going to bless this event with a song or are you here for the activities?”

There was no prince near her that he could see and fortune favoured Piet the chance to be near her. There was no intention of courting from him. There would not be even if she were free of the constraints of marriage. Such a woman would make her betrothed the envy of all which in turn could lead to investigations that would not be wanted.

“Your Royal Highness', it is a beautiful ball with many eager for the title your family will bestow. I may be a man of great wealth but am lacking in title. I would hope that would not limit any possibilities. Should I be so fortunate to get them as I do not make assumptions. I am new here with my time worked away from these shores.” The Dutch accent that came from birth and upbringing disguised with an English one to fit the life he had bought for himself.
